Two Brothers M2 Exhaust - will it fit?

I've been hunting for a 2 bros exhaust for a while now and I found a deal on craiglist. It is for a "two brothers m2 series exhaust." The pictures are below. The guy selling it is giving me the ID and OD of the pipes tomorrow, but my question is:

Does it look like these pipes can be fitted for an 08fz6? I've typed in 08 fz6 two brothers exhaust and it seems to be the m2 series that fits fizz, but is there anything anybody can identify just by looking at the pictures from the listing - that can tell if these pipes will fit or not?

Any input is appreciated - thanks in advance.

those pipes look much too long for the FZ. what are they for?

M2 is just a series of exhaust and they make an M2 for many different bikes, they are not universal.

I would say that unless you are going to do some serious custom work to those pipes then they will not fit.

The cans themselves look close, but the there is a 1-peice Y pipe that the 2 cans connect to, rather than the two straight pipes that the cans are currently attached to

“M2” refers to the end cap. You will need to measure the length of the cans. The TB decal on the side of the cans will have to be removed as they interfere with the mounting brackets. You will have to get a set of FZ6 connecting pipe, the Y pipe that goes between the intermediate pipe (the one with the cat in) and the cans.

I would investigate the cost of the items you’ll need to buy from TB before committing, as you may find that a completed system is going to work out less expensive

Yeah they came off an 07 Kawasaki zx14 - I feel like it COULD be done, but with how much work to fit them, you know?

I'm not concerned with the price of labor as I have friend who can help me fit it on. If all I would have to do is cut them down, buy a Y pipe and fit them to the the connecting y piece - it sounds doable. Good looks on the length of the cans though, I definitely am going to have to ask him for those measurements too.

Maybe i can find the dimensions of the 2 bro's designed for the fz6 and compare them to the measurements he gives me. If the inner and outer diameter are the same and I can just cut them down - it sounds possible.

To be quite honest, I think that the FZ6 TB Y pipe is badly designed. The almost 90 deg. bend to the LHS can restricts the exhaust flow to such an extent that most of the gases are exhausted on the RHS. I often laugh at this when I clean my bike as I believe that the FZ6 TB system is far from a race pipe. I’ve thought about fabricating my own Y pipe similar to that of the older R1, so I believe it’s doable. In retrospect if you’re mechanically minded and the ZX14 cans are inexpensive I’d give it a try.

EDIT: I wrote this before i read all the replies. I guess you coult cut the cans down. It doesnt really seem worth it though. Did you say how much the guy is asking for the set?


Just from looking at these pics i can tell you for sure that these cans are significantly longer than the ones designed for our bike.

One of two things will result in trying to use these cans:

They will stick way out from the rear of your bike. (about 4-6 inches past tail light) As well as having to make a decent Y pipe to fit them.

Or you will find your self cutting out and most likely heavily modifying the under seat compartment and building some pretty tricky pipe work to get it to fit up right under there.

these appear from the pics to be about the same length cans as whats on the under side of a 2007 R1 two bros set. Which a buddy of mine has and i actually compared the can length not two days ago.

My opinion if you want two brothers is to, unless your are either stealing these or getting them for next to nothing, hop on ebay and get ya a stainless set for like $590. It would save countless amout of time and work.

$200, I could probably even talk him down - especially since they aren't designed for the fz6. I might give it a shot, once i get the measurements - i'll decide.

You can vist twobros.com and look between the zx14 pipes and ours and see that both are the M2 version of the cans. this leads me to believe that the inlet pipes should probably be the same as well. If in fact that turns out to be true, there appears to be enough pipe supplied with that zx14 kit that you could have bent and welded into a Y pipe to fit the FZ. that make sense?

The length of the actual cans can be seen in the really bad MS Paint picture attached.

As you see, the entire lenght of the can is 10 3/8 inches. while the actually aluminum section is exactly 10 inches long. It is about 230 in the morning and of course dark outside so thats the best measurements i could get.

the pipe, as i attempted to measure and also remembered from having a custom cat elim pipe made before, was 1 3/4 OD.


i hope this helps. if you do buy the kit and are going through the trouble of cutting them down, you could also go on and get a repacking kit from twobros.com for like 30 or 40 bucks and have almost brand new cans when the job is finished.
