Two Bros Exhaust install help

I am having trouble getting the rubber muffler clamp on. As you can see the muffler clamp brackets do not line up with the fender eliminator. I can not move the muffler down to line it up better because the metal bar underneath it. There is only about 1/8" of room to move it up or down. The seat mount rests on the top of the muffler and the bottom metal bar sits on the bottom of the muffler. What am I doing wrong?

Loosen the "X" rings so that the cans will be able to rotate a little. Actually, loosen all the connections so there is the ability for all the pieces to rotate. It looks like you have a lot of gap between the can and the clamps. You must get rid of those gaps so that the tangs on the clamp can come almost all the way together. at the top of the can where the bolt will go through. You have to massage all the parts together while loose. This way you can twist, turn and nudge the cans into the best position. Then tighten every thing while rechecking for movement.

They sound great!

loosen the plastic mount where the pipe connects the the muffler?

thanks i will try it tomorrow after work. i bought these used for a steal so they were already connected so i assumed it would just mount right up. i will try that tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

with the tips in the exhaust is almost too quiet, i may put one p1 tip and one p1x tip in and see if that sounds just a little louder. of course once i actually have it out on the road it may be a different story. without the tips it was too damn loud lol

Yeah, loosen off those ones in the last pic, but not totally out, and also loosen the one where the new pipe connects to the mid pipe, then tighten up the clamps... They will be a stretch to be able to get the bolt threads far enough to thread in to the nut, but once they get started it's easy as pie!

I love my exhaust, it's loud enough!

You can also get rid of the metal bracket underneath your cans, it's a simple bolt on. However, you have no need for it an it will clean the look up.

Ok That metal bar underneath.....get rid of that, that's what I did with mine and I guarantee u that is what's taking u for a loop. It serves no purpose anyhow once you mount the new TB bracket.
I wouldn't recommend messing with the X rings maybe if all else fails, I assuming that the pipe came off another FZ6 so if it worked on that bike you should not have to mess with them u will not get any adjustment from loosening the X ring you want those bad boys nice and flush/snugg. If u going to loosen anything loosen the connection between the tail pipe and the mid pipe (Catalytic convertor ).
Take your time it's not a race and go over everything twice, all your bolts make sure they are nice and tight and when doing electrical splices ......solder and shrink wrap it is worth in gold. Use electrical tape only when you cut your self it really makes a good bandaid with some paper towels.

I think that bar (at least on my 06 FZ6) has a threaded part that the bottom of the pods mount to. You could just saw that section off so that you still have the threaded pod mount. Although I never had a problem with mine just free at the bottom.

that bar kept hitting the mufflers and would not let it move down to line up with the fender eleminator. the only thing is i was hoping to save that because that is what i use to mount my custom gopro mount bar on. i will grind it down or do something to make it work.

i will give it a shot tomorrow evening and post up how it goes. i am excited to get it on because it is going to be in the 50's and 60's by the end of the week which is a huge change from the 2 to 3 feet of snow we have had here since november. i am going to finally get to ride the bike some!

It was the lower bar keeping the exhaust from bolting up. I was able to grind it down so i can still use my POV gopro mount and get the exhaust bolted down

I did my install in the little kitchen/living room we have in my military quarters, lol.
I had received my exhaust and it was snowing outside so I brought the bike in to do it. Guys were walking in like WTF?
And of course, as soon as the last bolt was tightened up I had to start it up before getting it out the door.... :rockon:

Is there any need to disconnect the battery after installing a exhaust system on a 04-06 FZ6? I have heard that you need to so something can recalibrate to the new exhaust flow. But the 04-06 don't have anything sensor wise in the exhaust flow like I think 07+ does.

Probably wouldn't hurt to get a relearn going. I think what your referring to is the O2 sensor but what happens at the back end of the motor can affect what you have on the intake so I guess it wouldn't hurt and might benefit you.

I've read where the volatile memory in some cases makes very small changes that may not have noticeable effect that your butt notices but might make the the air to fuel ratio a little happier.
