Top saddlery seat

Yeah I know there have been about 1000 threads about this seat,but they are doing some great deals and I wonder if you guys could help;
Does this seat cure the slope in to the tank?
Can you sit further back?
How much more padding is there than stock?
If I like the answers I think it might be time to get one.

I don't have one and can't answer your questions but I have sat one one. Thinking about sitting on a church pew and then on a sofa. That's the difference between the FZ6 stock seat and the Top Saddlery seat.

This seat does not exactly cure the slope into the tank... instead it has more of a raised lip in the front that keeps you planted and prevents sliding forward as much.

You can't really sit further back because there is a raised lip in the seat.

I don't know if there is more paddign than stock but the padding is definetly more squishy.


The TS seats 'natural' riding position is with your rear pushed all the way backwards, leaning forward some (not dramatic) which shifts more of your weight forward over the handlebars. If you practice takign this weight off your arms using your stomach and back muscles it is very comfortable.

The other that I use on long highway rides is to sit more upright like a cruiser and put my heels on the pegs. This works really well to break up the muscle groups.

The seat is definitely softer and more comfortable. My ass used to start hurting after 80 miles on the stock seat and now it takes me 300 miles to start feeling the same pain.

As for the slope in to the tank - tell you the truth I personally find it to be even worse. I want to sit an inch or two from the tank but I always end up sliding all the way down leaving absolutely no space between my boys and the tank (which can be pretty uncomfortable at times).

All in all I'm definitely happy I invested in one. Not perfect but still times better.

Odd. I found the raised front lip really helps with keeping me from hitting the tank. And it is definitely higher in front than the old seat.
The seat is certainly softer and helps tremendously on longer rides.
My passenger also told me that she is about 2-3" higher than the stock seat, which helps her see the roads/turns coming up better.
I also love the rear seat stop. It puts you in a better riding position and keeps you from sliding rearward under hard acceleration.

The TS seat, as stated, has a slightly higher "nose" where it meets the tank. If you want to sit futher back, order from their site the "LONG" option for your seat as this puts you back from the tank further. The material labeled 065 in black is not even the least bit slippery and you remain seated wherever you plunk your butt.

abacall: that front raised lip you mention always squeezes my boys so that I end up having to get up on my pegs and adjust my junk as I go ... I usually try to do it when no one is around but sometimes I just can't take it any more and get some weird looks from the cagers around me. I don't know if my height could be a factor (I'm 6'6") but it may be that my legs are further up than most of you guys so that could affect my seating position.

This is what happened to me with the new FZ1 seat I got from their bargin bin. I sold it to Norm who has a much smaller frame/arse/hips than I do and ordered the LONG option for the FZ1 myself. Still waiting on that though.... But I know where you are coming from with these comments! :Flash: I "hope" this fixes that issue!

I have/had the same problem when riding in regular pants or jeans, regardless of the seat. With the leathers, no issue anymore.

Did you have the same problem on the old seat?

I agree, the seat doesn't cure the slope to the tank. However, the fabric I have also keeps my but planted where I put it so there isn't any sliding forward. No, I don't think you can sit further back - I agree that the lip on the back of the seat keeps you from moving back any further. There is a lot more padding than the stock seat. I couldn't ride for more than 45 minutes, and now I am going all day with breaks not even thinking about my sore rear.

It does change your riding position and places you forward more. I liked that since I had a problem with putting too much pressure on my wrists - they were numbing up on me. The seat and a set of grip puppies have cured that problem.

The seat is well worth the investment - I thought I would regret spending that amount on a seat but every time I ride I say that it was worth every penny spent and then some.

And - it make the bike look even sharper! :thumbup: My husband's exact word are - "It makes the bike look freakin' cool!"

I have risers/bar backs on a drag bar with Top Saddlery. I have no complaints.
