Anybody ever familiar with it?

Its a book by somebody named Rhonda Byrne, also turned into a documentary film. My parents introduced me to this a few years back, and I'm astonished at how its worked for me time and time again.

Its truly worked for me every time, and I use it daily. I rarely get to share it with people because people are very skeptical and set in their ways - to the point where I rarely even bring it up in conversation ever. The only reason I say anything is because yet again, its had a profound impact on my life (for the better). The more I use it, the more it works - and the more it works - the more I use it.

So just out of curiosity, is there anybody out there that's familiar with The Secret? Whats your guys take on it? Thoughts?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, the book comes highly recommended by me. If you're not a reader, I'd also suggest the documentary. It's only about an hour long and it could change your entire perception on life.

Ok that's all - I'm done, just curious if the secret has infiltrated into the FZ community.

I actually read the book last year based on my girlfriends recommendation. Although it is written in a slighly juvenillie and repetitive manner, I really do believe what the book professes to be true and it has changed my life.

The long and the short of it is that life is all about attitude. If you have a positive attitude, it can be very powerful. If you can envision things before they happen, and remain positive, these things can and will come true.

Negativity will get you nowhere..

Not even a link to a free e-book:popcorn:
Come on at this time of the night I haven't the energy to go on life changing quests for knowledge:D.

Well there is some truth there. I saw the movie and it rose some questions inside. I recommend the idea, I just don't like that it is centered on material use. It is not a magical property of life. Your brain ambsorbs all the information that is given to it via all senses but can only focus on a small amount. For example, if you are looking at a bike that is parked on a street, you notice the new exhaust system but your brain registers just the same even the cracks in the pavement, all the people's faces that are passing by etc. The fact that you magically see what you were thinkig at after one month of seeing the movie is nothing more but a direct response to the "exercise" you did with your brain. When something of interest comes into your seeing range the brain "tells" you to look at what you seek. And it manifests with you "accidentally" looking at the piece of information that you are most interested in. Of course, we can go deeper with explanations, but it would have been great if they didn't try to sell the idea based on promises of easy and fast material gain.

I do agree with what you are saying bob808 but it also is in the mentality that what you are thinking of and what you absorb may not both be saved and locked in in your mind that that is what you want. Its a great movie and the book is very knowledgable as well. This isn't some giant quest for a fantastic and lush life, living in the fast lane but more of to get people in the mindset of what others have done that have a rags to riches story. I first saw the movie when I was 14 and I followed some of the mind sets that you must have and have come out greatly. I grew up on a small farm and thought before hand that I didn't have much of a future but to stay on the farm and work it. Now being 21 I am graduating in 2 years with an Engineering degree and a Physics Minor and an internship with MacDon industries in Canada for 8 months traveling and working on prototype equipment. I keep the book by my bed and read a chapter or two every now and then. I recommend it to my friends and others who look to need a heads up. I highly recommend it!

To me, it's a load of bull. Like scientology.

But, if it helps you, then great. Not trying to put anyone down.

Not my cup of tea....

I just believe in the power of positive thinking. Saying that, if I had a terminal disease, I'm not stupid enough to believe positive thinking can cure me, but, that along with medical treatment and alternative treatments, might just do the trick.

But as for "thinking rich and I'll be rich"..... yep, ain't gonna happen. Hard work gets your rich. That or a lottery win or a rich relative dying

The law of attraction is the part that intrigues me - moreso than the positive thinking aspect. I feel I experience the law of attraction on a day to day basis. I would never have my bike, or be in school, or run my eBay business, or meet new people - if I didn't attract them to myself.

I think the law of attraction is whats most fascinating. Like the other day in school - career planning told us to start thinking about what kind of field we would like to take out training to next, where we would like to work, how much would we want to make, how many hours a week - basically a check list describing the job that would be PERFECT for you. I thought hard and told them I wanted to be a traveling technician. I didn't want to do the boring old work in a warehouse in eastern PA as an electronic engineering tech....I said I wanted to travel - see places. I want 70k a year, in an electronics (as opposed to electrical) field.

What happens? Within a weeks time, I spoke to a pharmaceutical water treatment company that works with Merck describing my dream job EXACTLY -- repairing integrated circuits in their treatment equipment in places all around the world, and they're taking applications starting at 70k a year internship, starting in 10 months (I graduate in 12).

Immediately I was like....holy crap law of attraction.

Its not the positive thinking for me personally, its the law of attraction I'm astonished by. Lately, it really seems like the more I think and feel something, the more it comes true (not just job related, this was only the most fresh example in my head).

Just my thoughts on the book.

Yep, you got it... Great way for the author to make money off of gullible people.... Some people like to follow, some people like to lead... Leaders write these books and followers read them....

People can believe this book and follow it to the T, others can doubt it and rag on it. Either way, the central idea that it puts forth is that positive thinking and vision can go a long way. I think if anyone is to doubt that, they are a fool.

I used to be a negative person with a pessimistic attitude. I will not say that this book alone is responsible for me becoming a more positive person, but that change of attitude has improved my life profoundly. Positive thoughts breeds positivity in your life, just like negative thoughts causes more negativity. I am certainly a firm believer in that mantra.

As far as the law of attraction goes, I do beleive there is some vailidity to it. If you want something bad enough, and you put a lot of time and energy into it, you can make it happen. Call it what you will, but having goals and aspirations is a good thing and without it you are a lost soul with no direction.
