Test: how branded are you?

How branded are you to Yamaha? to the FZ6?

If you crashed your bike today, or it was stolen, and your insurance company told you that you can buy a bike with the following conditions:

1) bike has to be brand new
2) bike has to be within $2,000 over or under of the price of a brand new FZ6

Which bike would you buy? AND WHY??

I'd probably get a jiggy 6 but would need another bike for the 2up touring....i'm not branded, not even a little. I do like Toyotas though

EDIT - changing my answer after seeing Steve's.....perhaps a VFR because my Tiger is too expensive for this poll which would make the SS my second purchase which would actually work out better since used race bikes can be had for way less than they cost to build. I would definitely shop for an FZ6 though...they made some great improvements in 2007+

Not that I'm loyal to Yamaha, or the FZ6 in any way, but in the 600cc and for around $7000, I did not see many options that offered the comfort, performance, or looks of the FZ6. If you are willing to pay up to $2000 more, you probably have a few choices. I have not ridden or even sat on one, but I would have to check out the Suzuki Bandit 1250s

That is really a hard question....

I look again at the Buell 1125R, now that I could get one. I look again are the VFR, I'd also look at the Bandit 1250.

As far as brands I've owned five Yamahas and one Suzuki.

I'd get another FZ. I've been in love with this bike since before I was even old enough to drive.

Although I'd consider the FZ1, or maybe an SV650S.

I'll agree with chuckfz6ryder, there may not be many options. I find the FZ6 a bit more work than I want sometimes. I definitely would do my best to seek out and test ride others and go from there. My leg length is small so that limits it even further for me.

I can see why this question came up.

I have plenty of respect for YAMAHA, SUZUKI and KAWASAKI.

Yamaha has their owner's manual setup just like a musical instrument booklet.
Suzuki is okay, but only for certain models they have.
Kawasaki has only a few flaws, but the ones they have are serious. They evolve the slowest.

I have equal respect for those European brands like DUCATI and BMW, but I only favor those rides when I'm overseas.

Honda is my least favourite. There're very few models they have that I like. Their VFR is okay, plus the Fireblade and whatever got left behind. (XX anyone?)

Branded ? Not me. I have a Kawasaki, a Suzuki and a Yamaha in the garage and I've even (blush) owned a Harley a few years ago and a Honda 40 years before that. If this FZ bit the dust I'd have to get another one for sure. If one of the others bit the dust - well, then my wife would rather I get another cruiser since she likes the sissy bar and bags. The Kawa 900 Vulcan Classic LT just scrapes in under the $9000 limit and has EFI and belt drive to boot. Now where's that lottery ticket ... :needpics:

now im interested to hear WHY you would pick those bikes over the fz6 those of you who just posted the model....

i see a lot of naked ducs and faired interceptors. curious why that is. although myself id prob go for the interceptor as well. it is like a bigger brother to the fz6 in what it offers (although it is a totally different bike of course). i think i would own an fz6 again in my life as it is such a great bike, but it would be down the road as one of my bikes past my 6th bike. i plan on owning at least 12 bikes by the time in done buying. timeframe is 16 years.

The VFR, its a V4. It has linked brakes. It is a Freddie Spencer replica and he is hella cool. Its beautiful. Single sided swingarm. Just trick.

Hey All,

If I had to buy another bike under the rules stated, it would be the Suzuki Bandit 1250s. I test drove one a few months back and was seriously looking to purchase one this summer. I like the lower revs at highway speed, less vibes in the bars. Other than that, the FZ6 my friend willed to me is still a great bike and would have been my second choice. I think the FZ6 looks better than the Bandit too.

I have owned several bikes in the past 23 years of various makes and models; the one bike i kept thw longest (15 years) was my 1982 Honda V45 Magna. It was a great bike with a great motor. I did a total resto on it 3 years ago and recently gave it to my cousin, he loves it! These days i would rank Honda as the lowest of the big 4 based on bang for the buck and continually evolving there bikes each year. I think Yam and Suz would be a tie for #1.

always been loyal to honda until i got the fz6.... honda just didn't make a bike that was near the same. suzuki had the sv650 but i don't like suzuki. 8-9 years of mx racing buying two bikes a year which were all honda. even when i started riding on the st i got a xr650r and made it a motard which was a blast but when shopping for a real street bike the cbr's start upwards of 10k which is way to much, at least in my eyes it is.
