Tach Flash - temp warning

First, two apologies: 1) I am sure that this has been discussed before but I couldn't find any related threads. 2) This is certainly covered in my manual, but I haven't bothered to look and it's at home and I'm at work.(preemtive :rtfm: )

I assume that my tachometer flashes when I fire up the bike to warn me that the engine is on the cool side. Should I wait for it stop flashing before riding or should I just hit the road and go easy on it untill the temp is up?

I've put 1300 miles on my bike now and have waited every time I've started it. I can deal with it, but I'd rather not. Of course, engine life is worth the wait.

On cold mornings, gear up while the engine warms. Beyond that, just take it easy until she's warm.

If you want to really preserve your engine, never turn it on.

in the manual under the dash overview it says that when the temp show "Lo" it means that the temp is below 113 degrees. Action: Ride as normal...

Thanks folks! It seemed kind of silly to stand around for 5 minutes waiting for it to warm up on an 80F day.

I was just saying what the manual says to do... I let it warm for a couple mins...then go easy on her for another couple minutes, then let her rip...

I think it is much better to ride it then have it sitting there warming up. That way you warm up the engine, drive train and the tyres together.

no one actually confirmed that the "bottom" light on the tach is in fact indicating cool temp when flashing. Is that what it means?

if a bike that is @ anything over 10 degrees celcius cant handle SUPER MILD riding for 5 minutes to warm it up.....then its time to write a letter to the Yamaha engineering team. I let it warm up for between 30 seconds-120 seconds upon startup. Just long enough to turn it around...do up helmet strap, do once over and walk around of bike.

After 5 mins of mild sub 5k rpm riding i ride as normal.

Keep in mind I am noobtacular.
