I Have a LV exhaust with a Shad top rock which work perfectly together but I am looking at adding the EVO sideracks from SW-Motech. Ive tried looking at the instructions seeing if itll fit right but Im not the best at discerning that sorta thing. Anyone else able to tell if it'll work?

How about pictures of the bike? Multiple angles will help.

Here are some shots, lemme know if want some more specific, im pretty sure most of the points look fine, its just it could be moved ever so slightly then mounting points don't match.

Looks like Motech is much easier to mount up. It doesn't have the big clamp around the exhaust like Givi (which is a major PITA to fit up).

Based on pictures from Kevin, it seems like it should work just fine (with maybe very minor modifications) :don'tknow:

I love the look of that exhaust. I think the Leo Vince is a go. I was a little worried that you may have removed the tail, bobbed it or put on a fender eliminator. You really need the stock undertail piece. It is used as a mounting point and is critical. Without that point the carriers will sway a huge amount and wear out the cam locks and the cam lock mount.

The only other concern I have is for the mount marked part# 8 in the instructions. Download the instructions HERE for a closer look

Do you think the pipes will interfere with the bolting of this mount? If you are sure they won't then pull the trigger.

Kev

PS/ if you do install these please post up the results here so I can include that information on the product page for other FZ6 riders with the Leo Vince exhaust.

Working on a side rack over here made me thing of your question a little more. Looking at your top rack it seems like there will be no installation inssues but take a ew moments and look at the mounting points on the toprack in relation to the side racks. If they share mounting points you could run into potential mounting problems.

Good luck.

They do share a mounting point im assuming, the one under the side pods, but i believe maybe a longer bolt would work fine? It is a shad top rack. As far as the #8 I think itll work fine because there is a metal hanger that comes down that should meet in about the same place, if it ends up not working you guys have a good return policy right? lol

So upon further inspection that #8 part is completely retained and is just reinforced by a part from LV. As far as I can tell everything should work, the only point I am worried about now is the one that connects under the side pod, I still believe that should work though sooooo I went ahead and bit the bullet. Ordered it today, hopefully those Twisted guys ship it tomorrow! Probably going to just go with givi e21 cases for now provided the rack fits. Didn't want to order right away in case it didn't fit. Hopefully it all works, goodbye soft luggage!

Be sure to fill me in on your findings. If it works with a longer bolt please let me know what size it is and pictures would be helpful too. I will write up a short"tutorial" for all of the other FZ6 guys.

Kev

ps/ before you install it be certain it fits. Any installation marks will void your ability to return the gear. Read the return policy which I believe is on the receipt.

Dang! Sorry about that. We'had a run on that rack as of late. Good news for us. Bad news for you. Keep us (me) posted on this if you try the install.

are you dead set on hard bags? because the SW motech blaze system is pretty awesome (also on twistedthrottle.com) and since Kev seems to be watching this thread, im going to make a slight complaint (sorry): the blaze bags are great but just a little too small, and the opening at the top is definitely too small. if they were a few liters bigger and had a larger top opening they'd be perfect. and i would buy another set of "replacement/bigger" bags if you offered something like that.

Pretty set ya, I have some nelson-rigg saddlebags that worked good on my SV but they just fit so awkwardly over the grab rails on this bike. Plus I like the ability to lock the stuff. I like the looks of the shad side cases but the brackets with the bags off look awful and I don't tour that much. Hence why I love the SW-Motech racks, Ill just have to use my softbags for my trip, hellooo to tape on the bike to protect paint

I'll pass along your observations. The size was arrived at to be the most complementary to the widest range of sport bikes.

my bags are soft but have support arms that prevent them from flapping around, and like i said previously they are fantastic just slightly small for my taste (great for solo "week trip" or less)

The Blaze saddlebags are designed for the '07-'11 FZ6 S2. We have similar set-ups for a number of bikes. They look like this on the bike:

They are designed to slide onto these snap-in arms that come off in about 4-5 seconds:

I think it is too late but if you can, I would really love to see some pictures. I will update the page to reflect your information.
