Stripped bolt. Help!

I was going to change the oil in my 08 fz6. Whatever ******* owned the bike before me screwed the oil release bolt so tight that I stripped it using a flat wrench trying to get it off. Now I can't get it off and need to buy a new one.

What can I do to get the stripped bolt off/what bolt exactly do I need to replace it? Any help appreciated!

most effective seems to be drenching the plug with some wd40 or similar solution, tapping the plug and using the correct type of wrench/socket. good luck!

You mean you rounded it off (stripped) using an open end (flat) wrench? If so, I'd suggest you take it to a motorcycle or automotive shop and have a technician remove the drain plug for you.

If its not striped to bad you might be able to put a good 6 point socket on it to get it out, you might have to file some of the tits off

If the 6 pts socket doesn't work, Lowe's sell a strip nut remover. It's like an easy out, but for a strip nut. All you need to do is hammer it on and unscrew it. Open wrench is for loose nuts... always try to use the close end or a socket. Might not be all his fault... if he tight it up on a warm engine it might be in there very solid. Always put a little less torque on a warm case... I think it's the main reason why so many guys strip there oil plug.

Another option: Again using a 6 point socket, take some scissors to an aluminum pop can and cut out a circle about twice the size of the bolt head.
Set the disc on the bolt head and pound on the socket on over it until it seats on the flange. I'd suggest an impact socket so it doesn't split.

Do a little rain dance and loosen the bolt. Be sure to stay at correct angles so the alignment is good.

Hopefully this will work for you but ya, open end wrench wasn't helping this case. . .
