I got the kit yesterday!

Took the expedited shipping option from dev_usc and it got here (Canada) in less than a week. All the components were properly wrapped and there was no damage during shipment. One of the plastic piece was missing a clip though, but it seems more like a manufacturing defect.
So I spent more than 6 hours doing the conversion yesterday, what a pain. Whoever said it takes 2 hours... :spank:
I ran into a few minor challenges, but the cabling was the biggest hassle. It took some thoughts to find a proper route so that the movement of the fork is undisturbed by the cabling and also that the cable itself doesn't get twisted too much to avoid broken connections in the future. It is also quite packed once you put the headlight unit in. Having the ballast for the HID to fit in there did not help.
I took the bike for a test ride yesterday and everything seems to work great. I am not quite finished yet though. I will have to take the headlight off again for the following
- Connect the high beam and the running light. I didn't have the required connections/wires and I did not want to cut the original wiring of the bike.
- Mount the mirrors. My kit was missing the mirror mounts but I wasn't planning to use it anyway. The mirror mounts is very troublesome as it requires to move the clutch and brake controls. Going to look for another way. Any suggestions?
- Reroute the throttle cable. There is a metal loop in the headlight mount for the throttle cable but you need to remove the throttle cable completely to pass it through. In the original setup there is also a metal bracket that can't be removed unless the throttle setup is disassembled. So for now, it is just dangling somewhere, not ideal.
- Have to check the horn placement because for some reasons, the cable keeps popping off the horn.
Couple of additional notes:
- My HID bulb works great with the new headlight. The light height is a tiny bit high but the spread is good, it concentrates on the middle and the right side of the road, therefor not blinding incoming traffic. The light spread is much better than when it was installed in the original headlight.
- I added a bunch of rubber gromets everywhere to avoid vibration at speed. While assembling, I could see a few places where noise/vibration would occur if I don't use gromets. On my quick test ride, everything was kept together well.
I will post pictures of the cabling routing and the rubber gromets I have used
when I take the headlight apart again. Soon.
