I'm picking up a 2008 FZ6 this week and have some questions regarding speed and power:

How much horsepower is the bike rated at?
What is the bikes top speed?
What is the top speed in each gear without blowing the engine?

Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (2004-current) - Yamaha Motorcycle Reviews

If you look at the bottom there's a table with top speed and horses (90bhp).

Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Gearing Ratio Sprocket RPM Speed Chain Calculator

Also has a template for the FZ6 that shows you what each gear will do at what revs.

Take it easy when you first get on it. It'll certainly go if you rev it. Lots of fun once you get above 8k.

Good choice

I've proven the 1st gear top speed of 60+ accurate. The rest, well we don't have speed limits high enough or I don't have a pair big enough.

The bottom line is that it has more than enough pickup to get you away from the most dedicated idiot (at least in the Northern VA/DC area) without even downshifting.

+1 to taking it easy. That thing has a hooligan hiding in it.

100hp. That's a manufacturer's number, so I'd believe 90 at the rear wheel.

I've seen 150MPH.

Second gear redlines at 100mph. I'm afraid to take it to redline in anything higher than that.

My bike is dyno'd with 91 hp. at the rear wheel. We could get more but we wanred to keep other aspect of Air to Fuel ratios healthy. The crank hp. will be more.
The FZ6 is a great bike and so dynamic. A good choice!

I have had my Fazer for 5 weeks.
One word for the power, top speed etc RESPECT

You can be cruising along at 60kph (35mph) in top gear and this thing is a sleeping giant. I am 92kg and 6'2" and was worried about the size of the bike and its power etc. Forget it, this bike is perfect.

It does whatever you want it to do and more.

I have done 2500 km in the 5 weeks in mostly rainy, wind and hail type weather. Hanging out for the long days of summer.

10 marks Yamaha

Ride safe Bro and respect your bike
