Sick of hearing about Swine Flu!

Anyone else here fed up with hearing about "Swine Flu" every time they turn on the TV? It seems like every time I turn on the news, it's swine flu this, swine flu that.

STFU already!

First off, I thought the media wasn't allowed to refer to it as "swine flu" anymore and was supposed to call it "H1N1" so retards out there would stop slaughtering their pigs. I see that lasted about a week.

Secondly, with back to school in full swing, every other news story is about swine flu in our schools. My god they went on and on last night about wiping down classroom desk, chairs and having Purell stations installed all around the schools and how they are making schools safer from swine flu. Now any kid who gets the sniffles will be scrubbed down, sanitized, quarantined and sent home in a sterile plastic bag!

Holly crap this is over the top. What the news always fails to tell you is that more people die each and every year from the "regular flu"...but that doesn't sound as good as "Swine Flue Pandemic". I guess it's good TV to continually toss around buzz words like 'Pandemic'. Keep the fear mongering going.

I have a 19month old and I'm not the least concerned about swine flu. I realize she's not in school yet, but lets face it, kids get sick...kids get colds...kids have pretty much a constant runny nose. It's part of being a kid! I think society and the media are blowing this out of proportion much like the whole A.D.D think. "My kid is hyperactive, can't concentrate and doesn't want to learn in school"....last time I checked that was called being a 5 yr old!

What a bunch of pussies society is turning into.

And why the **** do you think more and more people get sick these days??....hmmm could it be that society now has a weakened and non built up immune system from all the damn sanitizing hand lotions, wipes and various sanitizers that people now go nuts with?!?! I think so!

It is tragic that people do die from this, but in all honesty more people die on a daily basis from natural causes and car accidents than swine flu, but those don't always make the daily news.

So to all the news agencies out there, enough with your swine flu fear mongering campaign! I pay about as much attention to your swine flu reports as I do the Terrorist Alert Level broadcasts in American airports.

How do you REALLY feel about it?

How much time, money, and worrying has been spent on this, and not to sound like a insensitive jerk, but most of those that have died, had other issues anyway.

Holy crap, who knew that an old person in failing health with pneumonia, emphezima, and bronchitis could die if they got the "H1N1" flu?

worldwide total is around 1800 deaths so far, but the people who hype the crap out of this are warning about 90,000 deaths possible

When we flew into Kuwait a few weeks ago a Kuwaiti Soldier came on board the plane before we got off and took everyone's temperature in a search for H1N1!!!. He had a thermometer that he swiped from the center of the forehead to the temple to get the reading, kinda had a Star Trek look to it. He looked completely thrilled to have this assignment.

Before we left they had a H1N1 screening. You had to state if you had X Y or Z symptoms. If you did you couldn't go. Hummm....

So what did I come back from Kuwait with???? Nope not swine...errrr...H1N1, but a simple cold. Thanks Kuwait...

My dad is a Dr. and he is constantly pissed about the hype the news is making about H1N1. Its absurd and makes a lot more work for him because he has to deal with all these stupid hypochondriacs, and doesn't get to spend as much time with the patients who are truly sick and need his attention. It just creates an undue burden on our overstretched health care system. Stupid Media Fear mongering, but I guess its true what they say if it bleeds it leads.

You know stupid stories in the media must be a summer time hobby for them. Remember the "hot" story back in the summer of 2001??? "Killer Sharks!!!" That was dislodged and never heard from again on 9/11.

Or remember "Bird Flu"??? At work management had to brief employees on hand washing, how to sneeze, etc. and each employee got a large pump bottle of Purell for their deck. Seriously.

Here's the funny part...the year I spent in Iraq I didn't get sick for one day and for almost two years after I returned. Maybe that was the anthrax shots???

i used to work for a company called ecolab and yesterday they sent me all sorts of info (in the mail) about prepping customers for swine flu.. it seriously seems like this is a blitz for health and safety companies to make a buck..

oh and i dont know what the qualifiers are for a "pandemic", but i dont think we are anywhere near that.. maybe just a pandemic of media attention

Well I'm sure that the drugs companies, who must have lost money in the recession, are rubbing their hands and getting them ready to count the money they'll be making this winter. The same goes for the government since they also gain tax revenues form the sales of the drugs.

I just spent a week in Mexico... and I didn't catch swine flu. That should make the news...

A colleague of mine did, however (not on the same trip). Said it felt awful like most like any other flu. Except for the quarantine.

Swine Flu is a scam... whats worse its not the first time they used it...
But as pointed out already we constantly try to "protect" kids when its usually the parents that have the mental problems...

People are worried that there kids will be exposed to illness, but thats the way their bodies learn how to fight disease.

Parents got together and banned a presidential speech to inspire kids... People were crying waaaaa our president is going to turn our kids into socialists!!!

If you dont think your kids are strong enough to overcome the flu or think for themselves its probably you with the problem and not them...

Now we have interviews with "health officials" telling us that we should (get this): wash our hands after going to the bathroom, before preparing food and after sneezing or coughing into our hands......

Really? You're saying that I should wash my hands after wiping my a$$ and before I go make a sandwich for my kids?!?!?
