Removed the db-killers yesterday

Damn... Why on earth did't I remove the db killers from my Devils before?? The sound is awesome, and even more so when taking the bike through a tunnel at 14K rpm Had I been in a car hearing that sound coming quite rapidly towards me from behind, I would probably believe an F1 race car was coming :rockon:

If anything, it should be an increase in power and decrease in torque. I didn't notice much difference, though.

it is almost time to take mine out of my Leo's too... Early this spring when i was the only bike on the road i did not want to draw too much attention to myself...but now that more bikes are out i think it is safe :rockon:

just put mine back in as the local boys in blue are having a blitz on loud bike exhausts at the moment.... It makes me very sad!

that is my only concern, if they pull you over here they try to fit their baton in the hole, if it goes in then they consider them straight pipes... and that is bad.... i am thinking of rigging something up to stop the baton without hindering airflow... maybe just a bolt through where the DBkilles bolt on...

I have noticed that my bike runs much smoother idle with the DB killers inserted. Very weird... I usually ride without them though, who cares about the idle

So ours would be considered open if their baton fit through but the V-twin bikes are louder than 6 second race cars but can get away with it? That whole situation with the noise stuff irks me. I just don't understand the double standards.

Sweet dude:thumbup: I was going to remove my db-killers today as well so that I won't have to hassle with them once the cans are fitted, but I don't really know the best way to remove rivets.. How'd you do yours? Anyone else have any suggestions?

Worst thing about riding with your db killers out is that the boys can hear you coming miles away, when your "on it"....no stealth moves possible with the Aural Symphony of some decent "open" pipes!!!

As for the batton thing...that just sounds weird...

Lol all this talk about taking dB killers out and here I am ordering up some to add into my TB cans!

After a year of riding without dB killers in, it's just too loud. I worry more about deafing my mates riding behind me and making their ride misserable. They have voiced they 'opinions' of how much they "enjoy" riding behind me.

Cops here are also cracking down, but I'm doing it mainly for my own hearing and comfort. On long rides I usually put in the ear plugs and that works great.

Is TB and Scorps realy not set up with db killers when you order? For the street, I mean?
Are they ment just for track? Or just for "side orders" to bring price up.... in the end?

Thankfully we don't have any problems witout dB killers where I am, my system will be bolted on when I get home from offshore this time, Arrow with Cat replacement tube, and I will set up the powercommander on a dyno to make sure it runs excellent.

Will get lots of cool backfiring downhill and with engine braking, even some flame blows so I am absolutely pumped on it...

I can speak for TB and say that their P-1 or P-1R Db killer inserts ARE NOT included when you order an exhaust system. The dB inserts run about $32.00 each and would have to be added sepreately to your order.

On the advice of Dennis - our forum Admin, I ordered up the P-1 tips (MX/Offroad tips) instead of the P-1R tips (Street) as he and others were saying that the P-1 tips do a much better job of reducing the dB output than the P-1R's. I should have em in the next week or so and will find out just how good they are.

TB has a disclaimer for all their cans to the effect of - "not for street use/not street legal"...in very fine print! Mind you no one really listens to that but if covers TB's a$$. Even with dB inserts, they still might not be "legal" and would depend on how bad a day the cop was having!

Ok. I`m picking up new things all the time. There is CE marking (Approved by EU) here in Europa. I`m not shure if you can sell something here it`s got to have this mark if it`s approved for street. And then in range of the rigth DB.. Correck my if I`m wrong.

CE mark has nothing to do with wheather it's 'street legal' or not or the dB output as each state, province and country woudl have their own dB and emissions regulations.

CE: The CE marking (also known as CE mark) is a mandatory conformity mark on many products placed on the single market in the European Economic Area (EEA). The CE marking certifies that a product has met EU consumer safety, health or environmental requirements.

TB put's that disclaimer on their cans so they can't get any backlash from riders who do use them on the street.

I wouldn't put too much worry into "street legal" or not. If you want em, get em. Just know that there is a risk that you might get a ticket from time to time, which is why TB put out their dB killer inserts. I'd say the majority of non street legal exhausts are on street bikes and not the track.

With the difficulty I'm having finding them, it doesn't look like db killers are a thriving secondary business for them. There used to be a link on the "other" forum but darned if I can find it.

The sound really is a bit much for riding at high rpms in any kind of residential area, I'd really like to be able to get on it a bit more without scaring the neighbors' kids, sort of thing. I get annoyed by the Harleys with straight pipes when they go by and stop, blipping the throttle (why do they do that? are they afraid it's going to stall? I assume there's an idle adjuster on theirs too...).

I was standing at the end of my driveway one day and an FZ6 with stock pipes went by....quiet and stealthy as a ninja! I'd never before heard stock pipes, kind of cool just how quiet the bike can be. I'd like to be somewhere in between: having the "sportbike howl" without raising the dead.

Wow, I think my FZ6 and I would both feel rather violated if an officer sodomized my bike like that with his baton.
