Removal of Rear Sprocket Clips

Trying to remove my rear sprocket and I can see clips that keep the nuts from backing out. How do you remove these? They have 2 slots in them. I've tried tapping them with a flat-blade screwdriver counterclockwise, but they dont budge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

they are part of the nut, similar to a nylock just undo the nuts dont worry about the clips

Per the manual, the self locking nuts(no separate clips-its part of the nut) are torqued down to 72 ft lbs (per my 07 manual) so it'll be tight. Use a criss cross pattern when re-assembling...
