It is a bit past time to replace my rear shock on the 06. I was thinking about the Ohlins until I saw the price. Any other ideas where I can find a shock allows a little more adjustment than the factory?

If you want to get mod crazy, people have installed R6 and R1 shocks. Although they are set up to work with a different swing arm style, and won't be perfect(although they seem happy)

If you want a quick bolt on without mods, other than Ohlins, there's HyperPro that I've heard of, although only a couple hundred less than the big O.

Did hellgate sell his used Ohlins yet?

Some have picked up a wilbers shock on eBay for cheap.

The R1/R6 thing is really not a good option.

I'm going to try to stay away from modding the suspension. Too much can go wrong messing with that.

Thanks Defy, I just may check into the Wilbers and Hyperpro.

The R6 shock mod is good for lighter riders, I did it on my wifes FZ6 and it helped alot. The main reason I installed it was to lower it down a bit, but I noticed a big improvement when I rode it and I'm 180 lbs.

Sold.

I agree with DI. Both he and I tried the R1 option and it doesn't work unless you have the shock updated for the FZ.

Yes and Ohlins, HpyerPro, Works, etc is $$ but it is the best option.

My friend does have his Works for sale still. It's listed in the For Sale section. If you are between 110 and 140 it is perfect.

Looks like it wil be either the Hyper Pro or the Ohlins.

Thanks, but I haven't seen 140 pounds since I got out of boot camp in 1987! LOL
