Here is some more data. I zero my trip odometer and my GPS fuel odometer when I fill up. This is how the number look:
FZ6- 199.4 miles; GPS says 197.6 miles
FZ6- 173.8 miles; GPS says 171.7 miles
That is within about 1%
My GPS is still reading a steady 3 mph lower when my FZ6 spedo is reading between 65 and 80 mph
Remember that your ODOMETER will be closer than the SPEEDOMETER. That might not make sense, but also consider this is not a cable driven system. Yamaha (and other manufacturers) make the speedometer off by roughly 5-7% - but the odometer is pretty accurate with this speed error.
So basically for me, you have confirmed this - even though your speedo is off about 3 mph, your ODO is still pretty good (1% is pretty good in my book!)
