Whirleygirl: You're having way too much fun. And, you're supposed to make a deposit when in Vegas...not make a withdrawal! Northern CA was 80+Farenheit yesterday. Today, it's supposed to cool down considerably. Yeah, you're having too much fun...knock it off! Hey, how about them CA gas prices? Nice, huh?

The gas prices I can handle... still cheaper than home (we're sitting at around $5.00 a gallon) It's those crazy gas nozzles with the plastic accordion thingys on them - haha! Took a while to get the hang of those...

Whirlygirl: Oh yeah, I forgot that those are probably unique to CA. Did you figure out that if you want to really fill up you can compress the rubber boot manually with one hand while inserting/holding the the tip of the nozzle with the other hand and just insert it into the top part of tank? At any rate, yeah, they're bulky to deal with. If you see Arnold Schwarzenegger be sure to wave. And oh, chopper blades still go counter-clockwise in CA.

Okay, how do you get on the bike? The thought of my leg trying to clear those bags hurts me. Hopefuly, I will be making a similar run up to the NW during the end of summer. Thanks for the pics, looking foward to some more.

Haha... funny you should ask... it's actually pretty comical, especially with my leathers on! I actually have to grab the front of my knee and pull my leg up towards my chest to get it over the seat! The best was getting OFF the bike the first couple of times, forgetting the bags were there, catching my foot and nearly falling on my head... :surrender:

Luckily it didn't take long to catch on to that one...

Here are a couple of shots from todays breezy trip up the PCH from San Luis Obispo to Santa Cruz...

First shot is just outside Morrow Beach - please keep in mind the "hip-padding" on those bike pants adds ten pounds, eh?

Second shot is about 25 miles south of Big Sur (the saddlebags are looking a little droopy in this one... )

Last but not least... Rosie the Rocket relaxing by the pool at the motel in Santa Cruz

Yeah - she's a dirty girl all right! I gave up on trying to keep it clean (except for the chain, of course )

Throttle hand hasn't bothered me much at all, actually. I was going to install a Throttlemeister before I left, but kinda glad I saved the money now!

Okay.... I'm sure you're all bored too death with my road trip... But here are a couple of more shots from today's ride... Santa Cruz to Eureka, CA. I decided to stay away from the coast because of the wind, and ended up having one of my best rides of the trip so far! From Santa Rosa to Eureka was my kind of road: nice sweeper turns, no traffic, and no rain!

Here's the Golden Gate bridge (not the best angle, i know)




And Rosie all by her lonesome, at a deserted rest stop along the Redwood Hwy...



Starting to look forward to getting home, now that it sounds like like the weather is going to go downhill... With any luck, should be back in Vancouver by Friday night!

I noticed the bug splatters on your windscreen, how bad did you get splattered on your jacket? Great pics by the way, keep 'em coming. I liked how you named your bike "Rosie The Rocket" LOL.....wonder how many forum members have named their FZ6's. Sadly to say, my bike is nameless. Safe journey home.

That Moto-Pak luggage looks great. :thumbup: I pass right by their store in Westbank (Kelowna) when I'm on my travels, so if your luggage holds up and you have no complaints, I'll be buying the exact same setup. :thumbup:

Oh yes, I just *love* my pants with the half-inch of padding on each hip! I just try really hard not to catch a glimpse of myself in any mirrors or windows when I've got all my gear on!

Your pics are really making me wish for June, we've got a trip planned along some of those same roads! We'll be heading south from Calgary to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas, accross to San Fransico, then all the way up the coast to Vancouver, then back home!

Is it June yet??

Have you had a chance to run out a full tank of fuel ? what kind of mileage are you getting per tank ? What speed are you cruising at ?

To answer a few questions...

Vegasrider: Oddly enough, the bugs don't seem to stick nearly as well to my textile jacket (which I wore on this trip), as they do to my leather jacket, thank god...

OneTrack: I'd definitely recommend the MotoPak bags - they have been awesome! These ones were already "used" when my ex bought them a couple of years ago. Since then, we've probably put another 12,000 km of touring on them and no problems. They're really versatile (the ex had them on his R1), and they fit perfect on the FZ. I'm hoping to buy these off him when I get back, but if he won't go for it, I'll pick up a new set of the same bags!

SueMc: Yeah... I almost cried when I first tried on my leather pants... I know the padding's there for a reason, but, geez... Anyhow, I hope your trip in June is great - you guys are smart waiting until a little later in the year... Bikes + Snow... not cool. Have fun and look me up when you come through Vancouver!

Whirly... been reading all your posts and pictures.. Looks great! Im looking forward for a good get away myself. Question.... Are you using any type of throttle lock/cruise? Stock grips? Anything else to make the trip more comfortable? After 30-45 minutes my right hand goes numb (rest of the body is %100) and was curious what you use or recommend.

Wow! Looks like you're having an awesome time!!! Keep the pics coming!! I can't wait for my two planned motorcycle trips in June, one around Lake Michigan, and another following the Mississippi north!

And as far as those pants go, some of us men find curves to be quite sexy! ;-)
