R1 TB aluminum 'cans... $439

This one has me very curious..... as the YZFR1 'breathes' more than the FZ6.... it seems likely that the cans would flow more exhaust than the comparable FZ6 'cans would. Pipe ID is probably different/bigger.....

Anyone know how much bigger they are? Would it be worth it, to buy a set and cut them shorter if needed? Obviously, you'd have to work out the brackets to hang them, but this is easily $300 cheaper than a pair of similar two brothers cans sold for the FZ6.....

It can be done if you are sure for the inner diameter of the exhaust.
If it is too large its not gonna be work fine without the use of a power comm or a rapid bike ii.

I know the cans could very easily flow more exhaust..... if the cat is still in place, the back pressure on the motor would be so close to the same that I can't think that change in diameter after the cat would matter. Any glass pack 'straight through' type of muffler will have much less restriction than the OEM automotive style, 3 chamber muffler setup.

If this setup from Two Brothers gives you two aluminum mufflers very similar in design to what they sell for the FZ6.... I have to think a Y pipe that flared enough at the muffler intake ends to match the (probable) larger intake diameter would cost far less than buying the 'right' sized mufflers from 2 Brothers.... or any other after market exhaust company I've heard about so far.

I bet the bracket system they would include could be adapted without too much pain, too.

$439 USD compared to 7,8,or 900? All this is, is a couple of glass packs, for crying out loud.

Man! I think you're on to something!

I think they are the same I.D. I had TBR's on the FZ6 and have them on the R1.
The can oval shape and size all seem to be the same stock size. The tips for the 09 R1 seem different than the previous gen R1. They previous gen R1 TBR tips look the same as on the FZ6 cans. I'm betting you can do it and the biggest problem will be the 'Y' pipe.

This would be a very nice mod for much less than the alternative FZ6 cans! Hopefully we'll see some DIY instructions posted in the near future!

i know, thats why i posted those, they are cheaper than TBR's.. unless im missing something.. for a project that has many unknowns, cheaper is def better
