Awesome! You should post a HOW TO for the fork swap... very cool.

I agree. Do it!

I wish I was skilled enough to have installed these forks myself, therefor being qualified to write a how-to.

What I did do was research what was needed and purchased all the parts required then paid a local engineer who specialises in motorcycle frames, straightening/modding/etc carry out the work. We did speak about the project at length however. The main concerns were which steering shaft to use, how to fit it to the bike and how the headlight assembly would fit onto the R6 triples as well as how the steering stoppers would work and the steering lock.

One result of the conversion was that the forks have come 3mm closer to the bike. It's made the bike ever so slightly more difficult to steer. My rear suspension was still set to factory default - 3 - so I stiffened it up a bit by setting it to 4, then 5 and it seems to have cleared it up a bit, but the bike still feels like its going to low-side sometimes...

I'm thinking my options are either raising the forks a few mm through the triples and/or installing a height adjustable rear shock. I've not experimented with raising the forks yet, but will have some time tomorrow, along with tidying up some of the wiring which did not fit behind the headlight.

Hi guys. This is my freshly acquired FZ6, 2004, it has done only 7800 kilometres. It feels and rides like new. Too bad that bike season is coming to an end in Poland... thinking of moving to Spain :)

ok, just waded through half of this thread in one go, took a while. got a question. has anyone tried some sort of mod to make the seat a split design, like the FZ1's?

i saw a lot of tailsection and seat mods on a SV forum, guess keeping the underseat would make it trickier, but it would be an awesome mod.

really like the black and silver. was that a combo sold in poland or did someone paint it or get the tank and plastics from a black fz6 and put it on there? whatever the case, i like it.

@dean owens:
Tank and plastics were originally black. However previous owner did paint the exhausts. It looks pretty nice but I'm thinking of restoring the original silver. Black paint makes exhausts less visible and I think the "uber-coolnes" of FZ6s comes from those silver "pipes" :)

Time for an update on my bike...i think that since the last time i posted photo's in this thread, i have changed the rear shock from an OHlins unit that just had spring pre-load, and compression damping, to an Ohlins shock that has spring preload, remote compression damping, rebound damping, and ride height adjustment.

I have changed the front forks....gone from Racetech internals, to Ohlins internals, and a heavier spring.

I have added rearset offset plates to my Valtermoto rearsets.

And the big one in terms of looks, i have added a TCP seat Cowl...which i have wanted since forever ago!

Anyway, here are some pics.

Cosmetically, this bike is just about done!

Apart from some serious engine mods, a powershifter, and a 08 fz6 swingarm, this bike is just about done completely!
