Hi! All
Been reading threads about painting wind screens and mufflers
Will I thought I'd try some vinyl rap and see what happens.

I ordered a 30" by 12" sheet of 3m carbon fiber vinyl $30
could have got cheaper but this stuff looks like the real deal!!!

I did the muffler cover turned out really nice!
also the radiator side covers may redo them as could have come out better:(
also the wind screen looks good but it's having to grow on me, I like it but it makes a big difference so we'll see:eek:

Wanting a bigger screen so I thought I'd play with this one.
So here's some pics if I can get them on here

Looks great. How does it handle the heat from the exhaust cover. I know it doesn't get that hot (its plastic after all) but wondered how the vinyl in general and the adhesive in particular held up to the heat.

I dropped my bike just after I got it and the Mole (I think that's what its called) round the left headlight is scratched. I had thought of maybe wrapping it with the 3M carbon vinyl.

mufflers look sweet, but Im not sure about the wind screen. I just like the idea of still seeing through mine, not that I ever do, but just the idea of it
Where did you get the sheets?

Got it at [metrorestyling.com]
It's says it's good to 200 something degrees
I put in some good miles too day and no worry's
It's like the vinyl on owr tanks if you don't like it just put some heat to it and its gone, with a little elbow gease
This vinyl is thicker or stiffer then some, works really well on flat stuff
I got the flat finish they also have shiny
They have cheaper carbon but the 3m looks and feels like the real thing.

HI! texcollect
My screen was scratched up pretty bad so I had some vinyl left after the muffler so why not, it don't take much.
I bought a 30" by 12" sheet and still have a 1/3 of it left
If your planing on doing the wind shield get at least a 16" by 30" sheet
The shield is over 12"

Exhaust cover looks fantastic!! I bet the screen would look better with carbon wrap if it was cut shorter :D

Nice work on the mufflers!

Any other little bits you're thinking of doing? Rearsets or heel insert plates for example? Swingarm could be good too. Was it difficult to do? I can imagine if I did it it'd be full of bubbles and creases! :spank:

Hi! Eric
I bought a saw blade and sanding block to cut it down and then couldn't wait had to cover it to see how it would look
The cover makes the screen look extra big:eek:
Still plan to cut it down and we'll see how it looks
I like to make 200 300 mile rides so the bigger screen helps but I've reading how a cut down one works pretty well.
The one thing about this mod is it very easy to reverse soo no worries!!

The biggest trick is start on the flat or straight side and work it around curves plus the 3m is thicker and more forgiving
If you get a crease just pull up a little bit, till you pass the crease and pay that area more attention
They have videos and howtos
Start on something small first and work your way up No Worrys

I like the exhaust cover. Not really a fan of the windshield. Swingarm would be cool but difficult. What about doing the mirrors with it? I think that would look pretty cool.

You could also do the hugger, front fender, I need to stop.

The mirrors would be a challenge lots of curves:rolleyes:
Would probably need to use the thinner easer to mold vinyl
Would need to use the water spray and heat system to get it on.

The shield starts to grow on you after awhile but I'm going to cut it down today, once I get up the gumption!!
