Played hookey from work

It's been really slow at work for weeks now and I couldn't stand the thought of spending one more sunny day in front of the computer doing nothing on a sunny day - especially since it's going to rain for the next 6 days! So, I called out sick and rode 220 miles - great day riding through the mountains but no pics cause the people I went with wouldn't stop! Anyone else ever fake sick to go riding?

I'm a Robot when it comes to work.my wife talked me into calling in sick a couple of years ago and I spent the whole day wondering if thing's were getting done right at the shop....I know I'm a FREAK!! LOL :rockon:

Yup, around these parts you have to. Only 4 months of really nice weather and you dont want to spend them inside on a computer. I've done it more than a few times, thats what personal/sick days are for. :thumbup:

I said no, but I do like my bike more than work. Why I said no though... I don't play hookey to ride. My boss is even more of a sportbiker than I am. There are days where he has called me at home in the morning and said "Why don't you enjoy the day out on the bike." Or, during the day, he'd call me over and say, "Looks like a great day to be out riding, why aren't you?" So, I go!

Well, for me there's no need to fake being sick. I have 3 personal days to use up every year. Not required to give a reason.....just that I took a personal day. Took one day off last year for the Bikes, Blues, and BBQ (was my first time to demo a FZ6) and plan to do the same this year!

Wow - very cool boss! Is your company hiring?

My office manager actually called me yesterday - I hid out in a bathroom to call him back sounding sick (hours later so they wouldn't expect me to come in) LOL.

i have called out sick for what i like to call a mental health day. in my field, there's only so much abuse one can take before one really needs a day off. it's a not-often-discussed standard practice, actually. i spent a couple of those days riding. usually i have too much work eithic to call out JUST to ride, but if i need the day off and it is nice, i will spend it riding.

I don't like work more than my bike.. but I only get 2 sick days a year and no personal days, so I cannot afford to take them unless absolutely necessary. If I had personal days, I would take them to ride though. I hope you enjoy(ed) your day

Well, we can ride all year round here, and I do like to ride, but I don't take a sickie to do it.. In fact, I don't take sickie's at all, got over 500 hours of sick leave built up... Must do something about that

Similar to Donnie, on the odd occasion I do have a sick-day, I sit wondering if it';s all going the way it's supposed to at work.

my boss is also my neighbor and my best friends mom which is good for some things but calling in sick to go ride is not one of them

I don't have the kind of job that I can easily do it but I get my new FZ6 on 6/27! so I might HAVE to give it a try!!
