Parking in Seattle

For anyone who lives in Seattle (or area), where would be a nice, safe place to park my bike during the day?

Wife and I are headed down there in a few weeks, so I'm trying to plan ahead. We want to leave our jackets in the soft side cases and lock the helmets to the bike.

Anywhere downtown during the day should be fine. Wouldn't trust the street at night but thats a different story. I prefer to park down by pike place as its centrally located for good walking spots, and parking tends to be plentiful. But 'tends' is a loose term

Oh, and one more quick question. Any good bike shops worth checking out? We'll be staying out in Shoreline but heading into Seattle every day.
