Get comfortable and let your body recover.i live walking distance to a hospital, but they made me get a taxi home, and I had to be accompanied by a friend. I might have had a happier ending if I had been escorted home though...

The nurses were hot, but how are the escorts?
I had my brother n law pick me up, we rolled played talking and asking questions with the nurses saying that he was going to be watching me for the next 24 hours. He left about 15 minutes after dropping me off. I was fine, just sat and watched tv, and just been eating and drinking since. I can see myself gaining a lot of weight, very little physical activity and lots of food.
No shortage of sports coverage this week on tv, beginning on Thursday, the beginning of the Mens College Basketball tournament, nonstop coverage, 32 games in four days and nights.

They let you put pressure on it? I have had 2 ACL reconstructions (both knees) and both times, they said no weight on the leg for at least 2 weeks. Stitches could bust open and new tendon (assuming they did standard tendon wrapped screw) needs time to properly attach. For underwear, best bet is to just wear basketball shorts. Easiest to take off/put on. Also, driving is highly advised against due to jarring action of braking/possibility of accident which would undo your surgery completely. Just some things to look out for!

Experimented because I'm bored, went off and then I couldn't figure out why my leg was hurting, Oh duh, went off the meds, back on them now but yes, it does take time playing catch up.
Glad you got through it OK, Kenny. Hope the therapy goes well and you'll be back to normal sooner than later.

The "escort" home was for your own safety bro and you really should have taken it seriously. I'm glad nothing adverse happened, but you could have stopped breathing in your sleep that night, even after feeling fine shortly after getting home.

Great you made it ok. The suggest you do these things because of the drugs they give you to "put you under" one is propofal (milk of amnesia) I've spent some time in the OR this semester, once you go under, I get a big metal laryngoscope and put a tube down your throat. Yay!

last time I had an operation I ended up getting really bad abscess on the back of my throat, I couldn't eat properly for 2 weeks. I think it was all the packing the put down the back of my throat
I don't think I deep throated anything? I did eat lunch not too long after I got out of recovery. Can't pass up on a free meal.
So the nurses said that I could stop breathing when I'm sleeping, so if that's the case, they should never have the patient leave the hospital until 24 hours after the surgery, having your hear monitor still attached. If your home, how is your escort going to know you stopped breathing while you sleep in your bed, and they might be in the other room?

Just have a friend take you and tell them that they will stay the night. Its more of a legality precaution with driving.

I felt good enough to drive, but I can see that once someone gets home, they might make the decision to go drive. But considering I have no access to a car, that wasn't going to happen. There was no way I could have ridden my bike. Even today, two days after the surgery.

If this were the case, they'd let you take a cab home. Trust me, this is a safety issue with the meds, albeit a rare side effect.
