Now that's short! Two Brothers pipes get the chop!

Ok, i am in the middle of converting one of my 2 FZ6's into a single seat "Cafe Fighter", and with the single seat unit being about 90mm shorter than the OEM FZ6 seat unit, the normal Two Brothers cans would stick out way too far for things to look "natural", after the new seat is put in place, so i worked out how much i needed to get chopped off the cans to make them work with the new set up.....85mm!

That's about a third of the total length of tghe end can, and in reality, it makes the end cans almost laughably short! which wont matter when they are on the bike, as most of the back half of the can is not in view, so they should look sorta normal for a TB's set of pipes on an FZ6 anyway, but.....

I think they are going to be incredibly loud, which is a little scary, as they were pretty freakin loud before the shortening!

The guy that did them, said straight away, that i might need to get some custom baffles made, if i dont want to attract to much unwanted "attention"!!!

Will have to wait and see, wont know just how crazy loud they are till i get them back on the bike, which wont be until the middle of next week, when i get the rest of the exhaust back from being ceramic coated inside and out!

Oh, and just to add to the noise issue as well, before i could get the inside of the mid pipe ceramic coated, i had to get the cat removed...which should only contribute to the noise issue!

I do think they look pretty cool being shorter...reminds me of the stubby TB's pipe that you can get for the new XJ6N, which i know is very very loud! Cause i have ridden an XJ6N with TB's on!

ok this is going to be out of topic. i know that shorter exhaust are generally louder, look at r6 exhaust, even at stock its loud. but y is this so? what's the science behind this?

Dunno if there is any real science about it other than the shorter the pipe, the less packing there is, so less baffling of the exhaust...the more surface area for the exhaust noise to be absorbed by, the louder the exhaust???

Its going to be louder scientificly because there will be ALOT less sound dampening material to slow down the sound waves caused by the combustion taking place in the 4 four ANGRY piston cylinders creating 100 hp with only 600cc's of space to do it in....... :thumbup: :smoking:

Funny thing is, with the -2/+2 gearing, the bike is already screaming most of the time, as it spends about 70% of it's life above 7000rpm...

These were not re-packed with 2 Brothers packing...just the normal stuff, dont think it will make much difference anyway!

I do love the shortness too!

I have a feeling, the "pops" on the over rev, are going to be rather brutal!
