Newbie guilt complex?

I think folks need to start worrying when they don't rev it and don't put miles on it. Now that's abuse.

"For sale: 2005 FZ6, 1857 miles: I never had much time to ride it but it sat in my garage and never saw rain; gently ridden and never rev'ed."

Articles like that make me cringe .

A friend has an '89 Honda VTR with 5K miles on it.



He wanted me to ride it late Fall because it didn't get more than 100 miles last year. I rode it about 50 miles that day and rev'ed it (not redline either). I think that was the most fun it's had for most of its life. You could swear it was smiling .

sounds suspicious her asking you to get more saddle time......most wives complain and nag.... (from what ive heard from others on here anyway )

Yeah, wait a minute...She's the one who picked out the FZ6 in a showroom full of other bikes I was looking at, she's always asking me what the weather's is going to be like so I can go riding, and today she sent me out to play golf while she stayed at work all day. hmmm..mighty suspicious after all.

Mine sees a hundred mph (or over) every single time I straddle it. (I too rely heavily on my brakes) I do immaculate maintenance on my bike, I always let it warm up slowly each time I crank it, and I keep like-new tires on it. Enjoy - I doubt you'll hurt it. Just don't hurt you!

Thanks to everyone's replies, I had a great (guilt free) 140 mile ride though the Santa Cruz mountains and up the coast to Alices and home.
