Hi All!!!....new user here just thought would introduce myself. Picked up an 04 FZ6 after drooling over them for the past few years. I had a 1978 yamaha xs750 that finally blew up after riding it for a few years.

You will see me lurking in the forums soon enough, likely asking for advice on converting this thing to the naked version they sell over seas....the first of many mods im planning.

Im out of Santa Barbara area, so anyone in So Cal hit me up if you wanna go for a ride!!

Gratz on your fazer and welcome to the Forum. Lots of excellnet mod info here. If you like the naked version - look up Wavex's photos - he really did an outstanding naked conversion! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

P.S. Be sure to post photos of your bike. Before and after would be good.

I am an 07 owner but was riding a 74 XS 650 (TX650A) for years. I love that bike. The XS line made Yamaha what they are today. Great Bike!

Thanks for the warm welcome and tips guys!! YamahSpeed...love those xs650s as well. Here's a picture of my old bike if you guys want to get an idea of what yamaha had as "state of the art" 30 years ago.

Will get some before pictures of the new girl up soon, before i start tearing all that godawful plastic off of her!!

A silver 2004...gotta love it. You need to check out Wavex's bike....it's all black, naked, and located in L.A.

Hey welcome BadMonkey. You are going to have a blast with you FZ.

I had a 1973 Yamaha TX500 back in 1982 and 83, my first bike when I was 18. Boy was I glad when it was stolen! It never started on electric, kick, kick, kick, kick, kick, pass out, repeat.

Hoooooooooly yamaha....Wavex's ride is amazing. That got all kinds of ideas flowing. Just wasted half my workday reading up some of these naked mods.....i guess i know where my next 5 paychecks are gonna be spent.

Is that thing an 04??

Welcome to the mod fest!

Thank you... It's an '06... you can tell by the color of the frame (mainly). '05 and before had a silver frame... which became black in '06.
