New Rizoma Connector design and great OEM Signal Harness/Connectors

Hi all, just wanted to share because I know I always appreciate useful heads up about things that save time (and headache)!

I got a pair of Rizoma Zero 11's (thanks PJ - awesome store)... and guess what? There's no more load box! Its 12V out of the box... even the website hasn't caught up w/ this info yet. Set it and forget it (well... almost).

They use bullet style connectors, and this great item: Yamaha OEM Turn Signal Wiring Harness Connectors - eBay (item 320745017118 end time Sep-15-11 10:55:04 PDT) Yamaha OEM Turn Signal Wiring Harness Connectors connect to them, and other other end? You guessed it... our signal connectors... no cutting/splicing/etc. The length of everything is just right too...

Good to know manufacturers are always updating and innovating.

2 Warning however (hey, its never perfect); 1) You still need a flasher relay or 2 supplied resistors to normalize flash rate. 2) The configuration of the +/-/running wires are messed up on the connector above, but takes 1 minute to pull them out and put them back in the right order (clockwise from clip: +/-/running - I THINK - don't sue me if I'm wrong).

I've been looking to get these signals as well, but I have a couple of questions.
1) Can they be wired as running lights on the front like the OEM signals, and 2) are they bright enough during the day to be easily seen?

Yes they're def bright, that's why everyone loves them. You can make the REAR running by getting this : Custom LED Magic Blinker Relay - Convert 2 wire LED blinker to 3 wire. I was going to also, but after seeing a few bikes w/ them in back, I think it looks awkward having 3 lights on in the back... and cagers are confused all too easily...

Wait, so there are still only two wires coming from the Rizoma's, correct? We still need the Magic Blinker to have working running lights?

Does not matter if it is front or back. You still need the Magic Blinker to have running lights.

The rear of your OEM FZ6 bike does not have running lights. Your tail lamp is your running light.

The front however does have OEM running lights and is required by law. Magic relay for the front?

2 wires... like most LED lights. The magic blinker 'turns' them into 3 wire equivalents; always on basically, and when flashing, they blink 'off'.

People have turned the rear into running lights as well by tapping into another 12v source (like tail light) - in the front, you get this out of the stock connector, like Moto said...

Yes, 2 wires. from the LEDs.

Here's a circuit you can make yourself for each side of the bike. In this circuit the ground is provided for the LED through a normally closed contact on the relay. When the directional signal is applied to the relay coil, the ground is interrupted and you have a blinking LED! You could easily do this to both front and back LEDs. So one relay will cover the left and the other relay the right.
