New FZ6 !

I picked up my FZ6 from the dealer today!

Its break in period now for the bike, with first service at 1000 kms, and the tires are brand spanking new so I am not going out in the rain yet. The rider could use a mellow 1000km break in period as well tbh, to clear out the rust.

Its gonna be plenty of wind and rain later this week, the weather forecast says, so i'll be grounded then, but it should be mostly dry tomorrow, so hopefully i'll take her out for a spin and get some photos.

I'm broke now but have a growing shopping list for the bike already. Firstly: cleaning products. Nextly: other unadventurous purchases. Lastly: That is all. So next paycheck will be blown on a luxurious spa treatment of products for the bike. just a rub with a soft cloth after a ride ftm. the shop has greased plenty of spots well also, so she should survive.

Great you are going to take care of your metal horse, you take care of her and she will take care of you but; What about jacket, pants, boots, helmet, gloves etc etc?

Oh I disagree.

My first ride was terrible. It was rush hour on a very busy street, had to pass the two largest shopping malls in town, was still very inexperienced with a manual transmission (read: stalled a lot), I had never driven a motorcycle on a public road, it was really cold, and to top it off I took the longest way possible home because in my nervousness I made many wrong turns.

It was still fun, and a great feeling to be driving my first bike for the first time... but regardless, one of the worst experiences I've had on it.

I bought mine like 60 miles away from my home for $ and color reasons. At the time I was like 4 years bike rusted and I didn't want to ride it home. The dealer agreed to deliver to my home no extra charge.

I bought mine like 60 miles away from my home for $ and color reasons. At the time I was like 4 years bike rusted and I didn't want to ride it home. The dealer agreed to deliver to my home no extra charge.

I should have done that myself - I have about 2 years rust.
I picked it up from the dealers, and put 28km straight on the clock. It was fine though... not too stressful!
Still easing back into it though.

Without further ado - some pictures.
The weather was not 'mostly dry', it was beautiful!!

Here is the bike atop Howth hill. A historic (and modern) signalling point in Dublin.


And here she is in Dublin Port... action shot!


They were the only two stops I made. The first pic was taken about half way between the two points, and that is Howth hill you can see in the mirror. So that put the mileage up to about 70 km.

As for the bike, much respect. It is definitely more powerful than my last bike, and I should keep that in mind! apart from that, I love the sound, and she seems well capable to do whatever I want her to. The only thing I've noticed that I need to get used to is the clutch engagement. I don't think I have the knack of this clutch just yet, so gear changes can be a bit... can cause a bit of drag... kind of... ? I think I just need to change gear more rapidly.
And pulling off. Will have that down soon enough.

I don't mind at all...

I didn't think about asking to have it delivered. It was (is) my first bike, so I had the buy it and drive it off the lot car mentality. That and it was less than 10 miles away.

I had not rode in ten years when I picked up my 2006 FZ6 a couple of months ago. It did help that my last bike was a 1982 Yamaha Seca as they are similar bikes. (That sentence makes me sound old but I'm only 34 :BLAA: ) I was surprised at how riding came back to me so easily. I won't deny that I was shaking when I walked out of that used car dealership with the key and my adrenaline pumping. I wasn't planning on buying a bike that day but when I drove by that beautiful ruby red steed surrounded by sad used cars I knew It was time to return to motorcycling. (Plus they gave me a hell of a deal on it!)
