New and looking, Is this a good deal?

Hey, I'm looking at a red 07 FZ6 with about 7000 miles on it, in good to excelent condition and a few extras. They are asking $5600. What would be a fair offer. I'm kinda thinking $4800-4900 to start. To low?

Any input would be appreciated.

I got red 07 in excellent condition, 2850 miles, a month ago for $5800. That was pretty close to the blue book value: New Car Prices and Used Car Blue Book Values - Official Kelley Blue Book Site. You probably won't get it for < $5k unless the seller is desperate.

Used '07 blue in excellent condition w/ 1200 miles back in Oct. '07 for $5200 after taxes. Would have to know what "extras" are on the bike (exhaust. luggage?) to be able to gauge your "fair" price.

It's also buying season where the fall is more of a selling season. Supply and demand in your neck of the woods will also play a large part in setting the final price.

There's a GPS unit too but that's extra. It has a new rear tire.

The bottom line is that only you can determine whether you are happy with the price. Frame sliders are relatively cheap, but a nice jacket and helmet can be worth several hundred dollars.

I'd probably offer him $4800 and gauge his reaction. If he balks, tell him that $5200 is all you're willing to go and that you'd be meeting him halfway. I'd personally walk if he refuses that, but again you're the one that decides what you're happy with.

Another deal will surely come along, but you're losing some good riding weather whilst waiting.

he said the GPS was offered but for extra, my guess is that he is trying to get what he owes on the bike to either get out of the payments or something.

I would offer $0.50 and work up... JK but go ahead and start low, the worst thing that happens is he says no and you work your way up.

Sales tax on the selling price is due upon registering the vehicle. And, try to keep a staight face if you present to DMV a receipt with a ridiculous low price (this might complicate other matters too?) to soften the blow. I know...this is government double (or even possibly triple, quadruple, etc.) dipping and this is not something that is done with many other items resold. Alabama must be different?

I'm not sure but we do a lot of the lower selling price thing here. They do a lot of double dipping. Say someone just bought a tag and then you buy the bike and have to buy tag too. It goes on and on. Money on top of money and they never get enough. Dont get me started.

Here in RI if the DMV believes that your purchase price is abnormally low, than they will go ahead and tax you at the KBB private seller price!

Bought my '07 with 4,900 miles on it in May. It needed tires and a bit of TLC. I paid $4,500.00. They were asking 5K.

I say its a good deal. Depending on what state your in you're going to end up paying taxes on it I think, which will raise the cost of the bike. But you should add some pictures. Maybe it has some aftermarket stuff you haven't even noticed about the bike.

Its from a private party?? Start at 4500! That way you will have a much better chance at getting it for under 5000.. Dont be so scared man!, Its a business transaction and always involve negotiation.. Its YOUR money, dont give it away just because your nervous or dont wanna insult someone..

There's a 07 here in Victoria BC canada with 9000km for $4900. I bought my 07 brand new in 09 0km for $6850CAD. If it's in MINT shape $5000 is fair.

I would say for an 07 $5000-$5500.... O and as far as im aware you will always pay tax it just depends on who you are paying it to like said you buy from a dealer it goes to the dealer, you buy private party you pay dmv.....
