Greetings. I found an FZ6 fork and lower triple on CL recently, and decided to integrate the assembly into a project bike I had in the works already. My question is this: do I need an FZ6 top clamp, or can I use an R6/YZF unit? I'm using clip-ons, so I'd prefer no bar mount. Or, should I use an upper and lower R6/YZF clamp? The FZ6 stem is just about perfect for my needs- is it similar on the R6 etc? Fork width is a secondary concern, because I'm using the stock, spoked wheel regardless. Oh- I forgot the best part- I have no idea what year its from. The forks and wheel are black, and it came with a blue fender if that helps! Thank you for your help.

The difference is the fork width, the FZ6 is a little wider, so you will have to have a matching set of triples, whether it be both R6 or both FZ6. I am looking to do something similar, already have a spare R6 set of triples with the stem (the stem is different too). What project bike are you putting them on? I might see it around town, I'm just up the road from you.

I'm building a 1978 KZ750 twin (actual) cafe racer. FZ6 front end and brakes, GS1100 swingarm, progressive shocks, exhaust cam mod, milled head, new top end, Mild port and polish, XS750 tank, home-built bum stop, etc, etc. Perhaps I could swing by with my parts, and compare them to the hardware you have. Also, it seems that R6 stuff is more plentiful and cheaper on the Ebays, so a side by side comparison could be quite valuable to me. Thanks- Micah.
