Need some advise

I own an '05 FZ6. I love this bike. The bike is stock. Recently involved in a new relationship and she may want to ride with me. I am thinking about changing seats and adding both side and top hard cases. Top case to give her some back support. Is it worth it with this bike? Thinking about moving back up to the FJR. Anyone out there riding with a passenger?

It depends on why she doesn't want to ride. My wife will not get near a bike:

A. She's afraid of them, and,
B. She doesn't want to be seen on one

So, I chalk FZ6 time up to, "me time"!

Now, if it's a comfort thing, I'd wait and see how the relationship thing goes before shelling out bucks to accommodate her.http://600riders.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif

YEA the bike rides just fine with the wife on the back.she loves it just the way it is stock.just be careful in first gear not to roll on it to fast because over 8,000 rpm the front wants to come straight up!!!she liked to have crushed my ribs when this happened to us!!

Why don't you two just ride it and decide for yourself. I'm sure some here like it for 2 but I wouldn't.
The FJR is a better 2up bike. More comfort, power and not as buzy.Just add a Givi top case and you are good to go. My wife will ride the FJR with me but will not even think of getting on the FZ (works for me).
Try to have both
Plenty of used Feejers out there to get a good buy.

if the passenger doesnt enjoy riding, there is no point in risking their life if you ask me..fz is pretty capable of riding with a passenger on the shock setting 7, any softer, and the back feels too wobbly to me.

My wife loves riding behind me on the FZ6, and it's all stock. She's rather ride with me that drive her own. The only complaint she has (and me too) is that the she tends to slide forward on the stock seat.

You should get a Triboseat: Triboseat non slip passenger seat cover...we got one for our Fizzer and my wife LOVES it! She doesn't slide around anymore...at all. It's just a little sticky net thing that fits over the pillion. Looks nice on the bike.

My wife and I ride 2up all the time on the FZ6 and, for the most part, my wife loves it. Her only real complaint is that she'd like to lean back and relax. I'm trying to take that complaint and work it into getting some hard luggage for the bike.

The FZ6 is one of the more comfortable bikes out there to ride 2-up on, IMO, that are still fun to ride one-up on. A topcase with a backrest is a good addition.

But the best solution is always for her to have her own bike.

My girlfriend and I usually do over 100 miles on a weekend out riding the twisties. Riding in a straight line makes both of us bored and sore, but there's no time to think about that in the turns!

ps: Thanks for that triboseat thing. It's on my list!

I just went out and bought a $10 roll of tool box liner. I did it with the intention of making my own triboseats, but I never got around to it, and a square of the liner works just as well. You just have to remember to grab it before leaving the bike parked.
