Name A Part .... Anybody?

I'll try to answer the OP's original query.
It is a lean angle warning indicator. When you are in an aggressive turn and you are leaning your bike way down the \"feeler\" rubs the road letting you know you are getting close to the maximum lean angle of your bike. When this happens do NOT panic. Stay in your turn and slowly raise up out of your turn. You have a lot more lean in your bike than the \"feeler\" suggests that you have. Assuming you have good tires.

Thx :)
I already know what it is and why they put it there. I was only looking for the "technical Yamaha Name" for the part, - and it seems to be "Bolt" :)

It is the bulls bollock. You will find one of those on each side of the bike

They are only called Feelers by....welll Bulls Bollock feelers.

Steve

Are you dragging them on the street? If so pull those bad boys off.

+1, I'll mention my post again about getting off the bike more so that it's more upright instead of dragging pegs...I mention it again because I know someone that was dragging their feelers and they caught in a crack causing the rear wheel to break traction and they fell. I wasn't there, but it was the story recounted to me about why feelers should be taken off.

don't worry...you'll still be able to drag those pegs if you really want to ;)

Good point with the road cracks ....,- newer thought of than..,- but it makes sence. I'll try and get "more off" (get that dirty grin af your face) and keep em JUST above ground.
Would make good practice anyway, and give me something new to work on in the upcoming season.

yea, if you work on your body technique and positioning, your riding will improve 100fold! That was my experience. I followed guys and talked to experienced riders and was lucky enough to go riding with an instructor on a weekend and he joined me at the track as a trackside bystander/coach. He taught me proper body positioning for corners, straightaways and prep positions. Applying it is hard, especially when going slow, but if you practice even when going slow, you'll see that the turn you previously took at 25mph, you're now going through at 50mph (as long as it's safe).

I hit a sharp turn on a mountain road last summer and my rear end skipped over. I stopped checked the bike and saw nothing so kept on my way. That night at my buddies i noticed the peg/feeler/nipple thingy was gone. Ripped it right out of the footrest. I have no desire to replace it, especially as it is completely de-threaded :0

I totally agree with this!! I got a buddy of mine whose four upper front teeth are implants thanks to a peg hanging in a crack in the road. p.s. (fake teeth look black under a black light at the dance club, not good for pickin up chicks) LOL:rockon::rockon:

if you're grinding it down, keep it off. Also, get your body off the bike more and you won't be leaning at such a steep angle which in turn gives you more traction which then gives you more control which gives you more confidence which gives you more speed which gives you more cheers which then gives more beers which then leads to ladies and thus....all because you took off your feelers you will get laid. :D

Thus proving MarinaFazer's point
