Oh, so this will still work then...cool. One more question & I promise to stop bothering you about this...on the 85 pin to ground, can I connect to the frame or does it have to bolt to the negative battery terminal? Also, is there another name for the headlight relay? I can't find that in the service manual. There's a dimmer relay...
First things first.... ask as many questions as you want.... we are all here to help.
Pin 85 needs to be at DC ground. The battery neg terminal is best, but any ground will work. For me, I installed a Power Distribution Unit (PDU). I installed the Fuzeblocks FZ1 (https://www.fuzeblocks.com/). This allowed me to run a single set of wires between the FZ1 and the battery. I then run all my 'extra' wires to the FZ1. Just a neater solution. Like everything else, there are lots of PDUs, this is the one I chose.
Do you have the official factory service manual? if you do, the headlight relay is item 60.
