Just wanted to weigh in on this as well.

I have a '09, built in November of '08. As YamahaMAXdRPMs posted, the websites and announcements all showed pics of the comfort seat on the '09, but it was simply a marketing strategy as it is not standard on the '09. And yes, still the yammy one light.

I'd be surprised if they phased it out. While I haven't researched '09 sales numbers for the states, every dealership in my area (Chicago-land) was out of '08's, and only had the blue '09's, as I originally wanted the raven color.

Thank god they didn't have any in stock in the area, because I would have missed out on the faster cobalt blue. Whew!

Thanks all, my questions have been answered. The site that I looked at said the comfort seat was standard for 2009 and every picture I saw of an 09 had it too. I guess it's not standard though. Thanks for the replies.

It is standard for the 2009, but not in the US where all of them sold still have the standard seat. You have a 2009. :thumbup:

I got the last FZ6 they had. There was my FZ6, one FZ1 and Two FZ6R's. I went there yesterday and the FZ1 is still there but both othe FZ6R's were sold. That FZ1 is awesome. Also, I got the fastest one they make, the Raven Black!!

I originally wanted the FZ1 of course, but the Fz6 almost maxed out my budget and I wanted room for mods. In addition, they let me take the Fz1 for a ride in the parking lot (awesome, I know) and I just couldn't get comfortable around that tank for some reason. I am tall (6'3") and just assumed the Fz1 would be better suited for me, but for some reason, the 6 just feels right. Eventually, I know I will get hungry again and yearn for more CC's, but for now, I have to admit I am extremely happy with my Fizzer. Plus, my girlfriend, through a hissy fit about the bigger engine as she is already scared of motorcycles (I met her a day after that drunk t-boned me in '04). However, though I appreciate her concern, she better keep that trap shut if she wants to be referred to on this forum as my fiance. :spank:

If I am comparing stock for stock, I found the FZ1 to be more comfortable but I am 5'10" with a 32" inseam. With the Top Saddlery seat on the FZ6, there was no comparison. The TS seat is the creme-de-la-creme of seats.

The FZ1 took some positional changes and getting used to. I had to find a place to sit on it and ended up with a happy medium. Turns out the small indent at the back of the seat is to bypass the tailbone pressure so when I positioned correctly, I was quite comfortable but it still is a hard foam to endure for longer rides and you do get sore, just not as fast as the stock FZ6 seat.

That aside, I ordered the TS seating for the FZ1 from them last night and I HOPE that the seat is as comfortable on the FZ1 as it was on the FZ6. If I am VERY lucky, I might have it before out VT ride. Last time, it was about 7 total days before it arrived. I hope this is the same case!

The stock FZ6 seat is uber-crap.

The comfort seat, while better, is not a great choice either. No gel seat is in my opinion... they get HOT and stay hot, they get cold and turn into a ROCK, damned cold one too!

Corbin is great IF you call and tell them you want two things... more padding and less slippery material for the seat. Don't order and hope you like it. Call and order WHAT you like.

Sargent is also a great seat. It's a great middle man between the Corbin and TS seat. Again, call and explain, don't click and hope.

Hope this helps you and anyone else out with regards to seats.

I like the FZ6R only for the nitch it fills. Personally I like the better built, cleaner FZ6. But the R is a 'cool' looking bike that is a pretty good first bike for those that insist on something bigger than a 250Ninja and want the sport bike look. I wouldn't own one but it isn't a bad bike. I hate to see it fazing out the FZ6 though. There aren't any clean standards out there anymore. The FZ6 and Honda 599 were my bikes of choice.

I sure hope the FZ6R doesn't "faze out the fazer" lol. I definitely think there is room in their lineup for both.

I would however like to see a higher spec FZ6 that could compete with the Triumph street triple R. The only thing that makes me still want to lean toward the FZ6 instead of the STR is the fairing. However, i can sacrafice the wind in my face for the extra benefits the Triumph offers. It will only cost me 2,000 more and it seems that everyone ends up spending about that on their FZ6s anyways.
