Wow! I have finally discovered it! After 3 years of owning my FZ6 I've finally discovered the ultimate modification. There are so many benefits to this! It's totally worth it.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I've got a picture of the modification linked to below. It's pretty radical and I didn't want to blow people's minds without giving them fair warning. Just click on the image below for a close-up of this pretty major modification available to our bike:-

I've listed the pros and cons of this modification below to lay it all out:-

Pros
  • I have calculated (and my wife agrees) that the bike is at least 63% more of a babe-magnet
  • I of course follow the owner's manual and check my tyre pressure before EVERY ride. This is now much easier and more fun.
  • Due to the nature of the mod & the increased babe-magnet factor, the value of the bike is also increased a great deal
  • I would estimate from the increased aerodynamics and weight-change that the bike has gained between 7-12hp.
  • It just makes the bike so much more sexy-looking!

Cons
  • It is not a mod for the faint-hearted! If you don't have the specialist skills and tools required, it is advisable to take the bike to a dealership and have them use their expert knowledge to make the modification.
  • Due to the increase in performance and bike value, your insurance costs go up.
  • This is quite an expensive modification, both in time and parts. You can, however hunt around to reduce the cost. Either way, it's totally worth it!
  • Due to the specialist parts required, some can be hard to find. Here is a good place to start however, you may be able to find some if you are lucky!

Postscript: This post is meant to be very tongue-in-cheek! Please don't flame me and say I'm a modding noob etc! :) If it made you laugh, feel free to use the thanks/rep buttons. Or even better, click on a few adverts on my website (linked to below).

Sounds like the best option is to buy a second bike to put them on! After all the expense you've laid out to buy four I think it's the only thing you can do really!

If the FZ6 had been meant to have a shiny chrome valve cap, it would have gotten one at the factory. Yamaha's engineers are the best in the business, and you are ignoring all their delicate and well thought out engineering by making this hasty modification to your motorcycle.

I hope you like it, because you have just RUINED your bike.

Well of course, I do have the option of modding the mod by spraying matt black paint on it. Maybe if I save up for a few months to buy another set I could do that and then change them around when the mood takes me and I want the bike to be even more stealthy! :Flip:
