The frame sliders are Shogun brand. They were the cheapest I could find (on eBay I think?) and did a hell of a job. The slider itself can rotate around w/o the bolt inside turning (it was this way since I installed them). So fortunately, the spill happened at such slow speeds, and the bike was leaned over already in the turn, that it didn't actually have that far to fall to begin with.

The slider wore down about 1/3 of the way, at an angle.

As far as I know, there is no way to install axle or swingarm sliders on an '07 FZ6. Certainly there are no spots to screw them in on the swingarm like there are on full-on sportbikes. They would have saved some scrapage for sure.

And thanks Mississippi/SovietRobot, that is exactly the place that is damaged. The fairing did crack on that side (all the way through ) but I will have to check that out. Probably, I won't replace any of the fairing to be completely honest, at least I don't feel compelled to do so right away. I will try the rattle can BBQ paint on the case to see what happens, I'm sure it will look crappy if you look closely at it, but at least it won't jump out at you like it does now. Thanks for the eBay tips, I will keep an eye out for it there. I'll probably try out some larger, heavier bar ends to cut down on buzz anyway.

Does anyone have any recommendations of things to consider before getting back on the track with it? I have a track day coming up in April ...

I also notice that your rotor bolts have a high degree of oxidization around them. Time to do a bit of maintenance.

Nelly, I have noticed this over the past several months as well. I am not sure what is causing it (atmospheric moisture I guess, plus living in somewhat close proximity to the coast?), but I surely don't know what I can do about it. Any suggestions? Are there other metal surfaces that I should be worried about that I CAN'T see?

Glad you're alright! This could have been much worse...think about a right-hander w/ traffic coming in the other direction!

Once again folks, PLEASE be careful out there! After winter rain/snow it will be a while before roads are consistently clear of debris. If you can't stop your bike before you run out of visible roadway, slow down.

The lesson I have been reminded of here is to be sure to note the clues that your environment gives you as to what may be lying around the next bend or on the road right in front of you that you can't actually see even if you're looking right at it. Easier said than done for sure.

I have front and rear axle sliders by Motovation. I can post photos later if you'd like. I went through that same road on Saturday morning with a group of riders, and it was slippery there.

Motovation and R&G make them, they install with a rod through the rear axle, and sliders screw on each side of the rod. Same concept applies for the front fork sliders, I had fork sliders on before I did my R6 fork swap.

Make sure you get ones specifically for the 07+, as they are a different size than the 04-06's.

Wow. Sorry to hear about your crash and the damage to your bike. Glad that you ended up okay, and the damage seems mostly cosmetic.

Glad to hear you are OK. It really sucks to see another rider go down. Really sorry about the bike. I agree with VEGASRIDER, it seems like the red ones are going down from goin too fast

Both the front & the rear bobbins are mounted on a rod running through the axle.

So for the front & rear the same thing goes as for the frame slider; 04 - 09 can use the same sliders/bobbins.

Glad your ok man. Sucks to crash, but it is a hella cool feeling to hop up and be ok. LOL

Held gloves have kangaroo palms, a layer of nomex and kevlar, and rivits in the slide area on the palms. Its supposed to help alot with glove wear thru.
