k&n air filter cleaning

Hello,
I have a K&N air filter and it's time to clean it. I managed to only get the K&N large can oil spray and was wondering on how to clean it.
I've seen many recommending for and against diesel/gas/soap/brake cleaners. Is there anything that's readily available for this task?
I'd like to give this a shot today instead of searching for that particular k&n cleaner.

Personally I simply use a vacuum cleaner to hoover the dust off... Give it a good going over with the most powerful setting (use the bristly brush attachment for stubborn grit), and then a flash spray with the filter oil if you have it.

I'm not sure what's in the K&N cleaner but it works best, just spray it on wait 10 minutes hose it out. You can usually find it at most auto parts stores. One can should last you like 5 years.
