Yes, yes - I know it's not the season, but FinalImpact's post about Thanksgiving - and having friends over, reminded me of grad schoold days when my wife and I more or less adopted a post-doc from Poland and had him come over for just about every holiday. We had many interesting conversations.

Anyway, one time in the summer we had Pavel visit for dinner and we had corn on the cob. Surprising (to us) he held the cob vertically and rotated it on axis while he nibbled. We didn't quite giggle at this approach, but we asked about it and he was adamant (a bit defensive) that that is the way every one he knew eats it.

So, since we have this nice friendly international forum - that for the present time is focused on food - thought I'd take a poll.

I'm not too much of a fan eating COB when it's boiled, but if you cook it over the fire, it just taste better and is much more enjoyable to eat and you are able to eat it like an old typewriter cleanly.

None of the above!

Fork It!! Never been one for pulling it out of my teeth - thus, I remove it with a fork L -> R and eat it from the Fork!

Vertical? That's just weird haha.

I am from Poland too and I can tell you that eating corn on the cob isn't really common there. It's just hasn't entered the Polish food culture. It's more used as an ingredient in salads etc.

I still find it quite weird how he ate it vertically? It would seem easier to eat it horizontally.

Anyway, I am option 1.

I start in the middle and work my way to the ends rotate as I nibble.. LOL

So none of the above.. I tastes good with butter.. Never liked it with mayo..

Like a typewriter L to R. Recently I've had it on the BBQ leave the husk on but remove a section to squeeze some lemon or lime on it and add salt And pepper. Yummy.

I'm a bit all over the shop when I eat corn, but its always bbq'd.
I just eat two or three bites worth at a time.
My missus on the other hand hates handling it and will stand it on end and slice off the kernals, I think this just misses the nice litttle fleshy bits near the cob, but to each his/her own I guess!

Oh I like it with lashings of butter then heaps of Black pepper

Oh, man. I love corn....usually eat it like a typewriter. Grilled in the husk with butter, salt and pepper is my favorite! Boiled, with the same, or old bay seasoning Is just fine, too. My older sister actually likes to cut off the cob, come to think of it.

Outside-Inside-Outside... best way to corn-er the Cob... :D

here's a tip for buttering corn on the cob...

Take a slice of bread and spread the butter thickly on it then you can add what you like for seasoning, salt, Aromat, whatever.

Then, hold the bread in the palm of your hand, place the cob in the centre then curl the bread round the cob as you rotate it, getting good even spread of butter. Once the corn is finished, eat the bread :D

NONE OF THE ABOVE!

Who wants corn stuck between their teeth?

I cut mine off the cob and eat with a fork. Much less messy, much easier on your teeth and gums!

You can use one of these:

Of just a knife.

You eat a lot more of the germ and fiber in corn if you cut it off, most of that stuff gets wasted if you nibble it off the cobs.

I've never been more disappointed in you in my whole life.

How do you eat corn-on-the-cob was the question - not how do you eat corn! you're eating corn-off-the-cob.

But really - cutting the corn off? Why don't you just go out and buy a can of it at that point?

Corn on the cob is great. BBQ is a great way for me but boiled too will work. Typewriter style is my way. My dad however has cut it off the cob for years due to bad teeth. You almost have to be a beaver to munch it off the cob. LOL.
