Ok boys....i have a plan....as baldrick would say" a very cunning plan"!
I have devised a road trip, a 1600km road trip from Adelaide, through Kingston, Mount Gambier, Port Ferry, Warrnambool, along the Great Ocean Road to Torquay, then back up to Halls Gap in the Grampians, then back home to Adelaide via Bordertown. Or the same route home from Torquay, back along the Ocean Road, and Mount Gambier, etc.
Either way it's just over 1600km's. Here's the catch...Am going to leave Adelaide on a Sunday Morning, and be back in Adelaide by Monday Night! When, Sunday October 12 - Monday October 13.
800km's each day, which will equate to about 10 hours on the road each day.
Leaving at 8am on the Sunday Morning, should see us at Torquay in Victoria at about 5.30pm Victorian time. Which still gives us about 2 hours of light left in case we take longer than expected, or have a problem.
That's gives us time to have a decent dinner, a few relaxing ales, and a decent sleep before we hit the road again at 8am on Monday morning.
So far, it's just me and my mate Matt on his TRX850, and hopefully Gary on his Z1000...who on recent form, should arrive about 3 hours before the rest of us...at least there will be a cold beer ready when we arrive!
Costs = Petrol (by my calculations about 4.6 tanks worth at $30 a refill = $130 - $140, Food & Beer = $60 - $80, lodgings = about $50 each in twin shares of a decent standard. So that's between $240 - $270, allow $300 to be safe.
I know some of you would struggle to get time off work at such short notice. It is my days off, and Matt is on Holiday, and hopefully Gary can sort time off.
If anyone is interested in coming for a really decent ride, along the Great Ocean Road in hopefully some nice late spring weather in October, PM me, and lets get the ball rolling!
