HELP! Took off the calipers, can't put them back on!

Brake fluid can be cleaned with brake clean or just plain old soap and water, or just plain water.
Fork oil/gear oil and such soaks the pads and destroys them.


I just always do the longest line first, it really doesnt matter as long as you get all the air out, just easier for me to do the longest line first.

HAHAHA... okay okay...So i'm done bleeding the freaking brakes...

Thanks Wright for all the advice and help and also to everyone else who's put their .02 in...

The best advice so far was that you could never overbleed the brakes.. I think i spent a total of 20 - 30 mins on each brake and went through two small bottles..

Now, i got my bucket of soap and i'm cleaning these things up..


For the peeps who want pics.. I will post up pics as soon as it is all done..Not sure when that'll be but i still have got to paint 2 more calipers... I know, I know.. I'm working slow a lil but, The turtle always beats the rabbit in the race...

LOL... I'll keep posting though with my updates on what im doing so far..

So, I put back all calipers on the bike. Added Brake fluid to the brake lines and got all the air out. I tightened everything up nicely and cleaned... Took it to the road on my street to do emergency stops to get the brake pads warm and get everything functionally perfect. Everything was okay to me on my standards.. I actually even think my front brake is working better now.

Now another problem comes up and i swear i am going to kick myself in the a**. I've only painted the rear caliber with a single coat of spray. I wanted to do a coat on the front right one but now i can't.. I guess a piece of dirt or i tightened it wrong but, A bolt on my front right caliber Is not budging... It went down to the point where there are no longer sides on the freaking bolt, it's just a circle... lol..i didnt have the correct tool so tomorrow i'll be taking it to a mechanic from a bike shop. He's a friend of a friend and i'm hoping he'll "Hook Me Up"

So here I am, One barely painted caliber and one that wont come off... lol.. I just gotta say ... What a Day!

When you work on your own bike and run into issues like this, IMO, it makes it better when everything does turn out right.

I painted my front rim this morning then when I put the caliper back on it scratched it pretty good. I was so pi**ed off for about two hours. Then I just taped it back up and sprayed it again. Looked fine in the end.

Point being, hang in there, keep level headed, it will all work out in the end.

He's a friend of a friend and i'm hoping he'll "Hook Me Up"

One thing I've realized is that the bolts on the bike are relatively soft. So you really need sockets that aren't rusted, worn and rounded. You need good quality tools that fit around the bolt tight.

Cool, well done. Now that you know how to bleed and your bleed screws are toast put on a set of these: Speed Bleeder

And while you are at it a set of these: Spiegler Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines
