Hello Everyone

Hi all,

Just wanted to welcome myself to your forum. Bought my 2008 Yamaha FZ6 last week. Althought I absolutely love the bike, it was not purchased under the best circumstances.

I commute 70 miles round trip every day from Manhattan to Stamford CT for work. This is my second year doing this, and last week I had my first accident with my old bike, a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 650R. While traveling along at about 35-40mph on 116th street, a gypsy cab driver going the opposite direction decided to yank a left turn less than 20ft in front of me. Left with nowhere to go I began braking, got the bike into a bit of a skid, and clipped his front bumper. Flew about 10-15ft over the handle bars and skidded to a halt on the pavement.

Lucky for me I walked away with minor injuries. Thank god for a little luck and good gear. Bought the new bike a few days later.

Anyhow, glad to be on board!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! And yea, I am glad I am ok too. Just a bruised up wrist and some rash on my knee. I feel very fortunate to have walked away nearly unscathed.

Not to knock the Ninja, because it was a great bike that served me well over the past two years, but I can already say I am proud to be a memeber of the Yamaha family. The new bike is a big jump from the last one.

Riding to work this morning was cold...burrrrrr!

Well you could look at it this way...that cabby did you a favor by taking out your kawi therefore enabling you to get a fazer..jk lol.....but in all seriousness glad your ok and back to riding and welcome
