Headlight assembly

Hey guys ...

Can anyone explain how to get INSIDE the headlight assembly?

I find nothing in the manual, seems to accept it as a closed unit. I could just strip the entire nosecone, but rather not on just a fishing expedition.

I got strobes i'd like to fit.

You actually have to remove the headlight from the bike, stick it in the oven @ 250 degrees for about 10 minutes so that the heat can release the glue from the two headlight pieces, let us know if we can be of anymore assistance.

Lots of people open headlight assemblies, usually for retrofitting in HID projectors. The oven trick is a very accepted method. I haven't personally done it, but from what I've gathered, as ITSME said, oven for 10 minutes to soften the glue, then take it out and pull it apart. To put it back together, put it back in to soften the glue again, then take it out and quickly shove the two peices back together again.

Its really not that bad just take pictures along the way to help you remember how stuff goes back together.

When you say "strobes" you're not talking about the "pod lights" are you?

I did the oven thing and found it to be a bit of a mess. Of course, reading the procedure as has been described in this thread, I may have gone about it wrong. I figured I had to remove the old silicone and reapply new when I went to seal it up. And that sealant that they put on at the factory is some pretty burly, sticky stuff -- and hard to get off. Long story short: I wound up buying a new headlight assembly. ugh

No, i mean those flashing lights that cops use.

I tried putting them in the pod lights, and broke the blasted wires, so need to resolder. What i'll do it just poke them in through the globe mount.
