Happy 4th July Our American friends

I wore a straw western hat (it's not a cowboy hat, I sold my horse) to our small town parade on a 93 degree (fahrenheit for you metrics) sunny day. Everyone stood as our County Sheriff's Color Guard led off the hour-long parade with our Colors. The men took off their hats. The biggest cheers went up for our Vietnam Veterans group as they marched by. Six WWII vintage trainers flew in formation overhead, making several passes. In thousands of towns and cities all over America, similar scenes take place on this date.

Why? Because our Founding Fathers sacrificed much, and in some cases all, to define, defend and preserve the Truths we hold to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

And, we remember, celebrate, and honor all those past, present and future who willingly, with no expectation of reward or recognition, selflessly serve their fellow citizens, the country and its ideals, even at the expense of their lives.

Independence is individual. I am, and my fellow countrymen are, free by my/our very existence, and the government serves us at our direction. Our nation is independent because we are all individually independent. May it always be so.

Happy Birthday America, land that I love.

Chills are literally running down my legs, very well said my fellow American!

I am thankful for the folks that thought up the Constitution. It has many great ideas. Could be even better, too. I am thankful for all those that fought for those great ideas and for those who died protecting it. I hope that this country will focus more on those great ideas and improve on the areas that need it. :america:
