i bought a FZ6 /2007 with 2000 miles, but i get the impression that the throttle is really hard as **** . it rides great but i get tired some times because of the stiff in the spring jejeje. Can this be changed ? thanks in advance.

stand facing the left hand side of your bike...just where the frame bends downwards to the engine near the foot pegs...kneel down and look behind the frame at this point and you'll see two cables on a small wheel....this is your throttle housing. Check to make sure the spring there isn't damaged or rusted...

Thats as much help i can give...my throttle is fine to be honest. Give that a good spray and see if it helps. Just a quick question for you...when you throttle and then let it off does the throttle snap immediately to being off and the bike lunges forward or does it return to "neutral" position gradually and the bike just gradually slows down?

EDIT: O and welcome to the forum!! :):) great to see someone else with this masterpiece between their legs! :) :P

Could give us a relevant example, something to base upon, your "hard as ****" throttle. I think your discussing a stiff throttle spring.

Yep! Mine has a stiff throttle spring too but nothing I didn't get use to in a few hundred miles. Sometimes, I experience an abrupt engine response when I get tired on a long ride - I'm not as smooth.

Can you compare it to another motorcycle? If you're new to motorcycles in general, it's going to be an adjustment. You might want to (ahem) exercise your right hand to get some more strength and endurance in it.

I don't find the throttle on my FZ to be discernably stiffer than comparable street bikes, so if yours is, there might be something wrong. It should snap back to off. That's good adjustment on the return spring.

mine is fine, you could also get one of those throttle helper things that adds a lever onto the twist grip[ to make it easier to turn,

I don't have much problem with spring tension, but my hands get tired in general on the grips. Maybe some kind of gel grip would be a good idea here. I didn't have this problem on baby ninja.

I have a cramp buster,it really helps relieve hand strain. It was a bit long so I ground it to a shorter length. A very inexpensive answer to your problem.

noticed a definite issue with right thumb on my first long ride on this bike,
3,000 kms in 5 days, after a few hour my throttle hand was numb and thumb
in pain, after that it didn't take long to return, 30 minutes of cruising and it
was back...re-learned some techniques that I had forgotten to get around
the problem: change hand positions requently, try putting fingers on top of
levers for awhile, if you're in a position to do this, try also putting thumb on
top of lever (be vary careful with this one, never in traffic) also vary the
RPM to get a change in vibration frequency, try altering seating position
a bit to change the way your weight is ditributed between butt and arms,
basically: keep arms as relaxed as possible and keep moving

the throttle return spring is a little on the strong side in my opinon, but
I'd be very reluctant to change it with that rev-happy engine under me,
I have a more involved strategy in mind: gonna add the SW Motek bar
risers, fill the bar with lead shot to kill vibes, get some gel grips as well
as practice the stuff listed above, this and a screen issue to work out
and the fizzer will be perfect for me

You're not imagining it...the throttle return spring on the FZ6 is unbelievably firm compared to other sport bikes I've ridden. It does take some getting used to and you'll get more used to it the longer you ride it, but I started using a throttle rocker (little plastic clamp that slides over the grip and allows you to use the heel of your hand to apply throttle). That thing has saved my hand many times!

One word of caution if you've never used one. When you first put it on, be careful not to over rev the engine as you're taking off. I did that the very first time I used it and nearly shot the bike right out from under myself...lol.

Seriously, it's the best $10 I've ever spent as far as comfort goes. And I use it on every ride...long ones, twisties, city riding, doesn't matter. Once you get used to having it on there, it doesn't affect your throttle control at all.

Which one do you have for the FZ? I had one on my old bike but I rarely used it. I avoided the highway as much as possible.
