You're not imagining it...the throttle return spring on the FZ6 is unbelievably firm compared to other sport bikes I've ridden. It does take some getting used to and you'll get more used to it the longer you ride it, but I started using a throttle rocker (little plastic clamp that slides over the grip and allows you to use the heel of your hand to apply throttle). That thing has saved my hand many times!
One word of caution if you've never used one. When you first put it on, be careful not to over rev the engine as you're taking off. I did that the very first time I used it and nearly shot the bike right out from under myself...lol.
Seriously, it's the best $10 I've ever spent as far as comfort goes. And I use it on every ride...long ones, twisties, city riding, doesn't matter. Once you get used to having it on there, it doesn't affect your throttle control at all.
