PS I should known better after the vw entry. All of our air cooled friends..... you ever see a 180hp vair, OEM turbo from 1966?

Not many people know Chevrolet had Turbo changed cars in the 60's (165c.i. @180HP. Unfortunately air cooled engines with fan belts that flew off, rear engine, rear drive didn't go well. Old school cast iron mechanics ruined many engines by pulling threads. Crap being sucked into the fans derailed belts and many over heated and became oil leakers.
Anyway, Good Engines for Sand Rails!

looking at the bottom and how the edge appears serrated, I'm going to guess its a grinder of some sort.

Looks like outdoor item.
Change of plans - lets go with knob to tension and retain an awning on an outdoor swing or canopy.

The serrations do not mate with anything. The nipple does serve a purpose.
