Hi there.

Now that I have done the exchange (Today 9/4/09) I'm here to announce the birth of my new ride, BMW's F 800 GS which is a new chapter in my riding life, having not done Enduro before.

My only gripe is having to do the obligitory run in of 600 miles, under 5k revs. DOH!

My Fazer S2 was a great ride and served me very well:rockon:

Regards and Happy Easter to you all.

Regards

Mark

way to go! pretty nice ride eh?

i just bought the same bike too. up to 1300km now. going to ride it to south america in november.

when i had it in for its service yesterday, the gave me a new Street Triple R as a loaner for a couple hours! that is one very nice ride too.

Very nice ride! Too bad you couldn't keep them both! I am also curious about a write up once you've broken it in and had some time off-road. Congrats and good luck!

...........and Matt said Triumph Tiger!

I've just traded in my Rockster for a FZ6! Handling too vague and yes still some torque reaction, not from shaft but from engine itself, also bits are just too damned expensive for Bee-em's whether their aftermarket or service items even from specialists like Motorworks. Nice bikes but Japs are just that bit mor cost-effective.

That GS is a nice bike, I saw this with a buddy of my the bike show in NYC and it's great. Definitely taller than the FZ6, but I was still able to put my feet flat on the ground. Congrats on the new ride, ride safe.

Hello to all those who have viewed and made comment on my post, thank you, I respect all of your comments.

1, I will continue to be a part of this GREAT!!! Forum, so no worries there.
2. I hope that the F800GS forum is just as good.
3. I will provide a update, when I've bedded the GS in, so no worries there either.
4. Time I think to draw a line under this post now as I'm sure there are far more important things going on to view and discuss;)

So for now, all the best to you all and safe riding:D

Regards

Mark

Awesome bike. Right before I picked up my fz6 I was looking around at a f650gs that was just a bit out of my price range and have since been very happy with landing the fizzer. However, I still keep my eye on the new 800s and am always curious what the difference between the bikes amounts to. Congrats on the new bike  Looking forward to hearing about it.

Hey Mark, Nice wheels mate !!!!!

I have dreamt about a good all round bike for a long time, especially after Ewan Mcgregors trip ! I wouldn't take his wannabe friend along though ;) Doing a few months crossing Europe with your bike is something I would love to plan and carry out... maybe one day
Please let us know your thoughts on the 800 GS, seems a lot more practical than the 1200. Maybe one day I'll get sports bikes out of my head !!

Enjoy it lots !!!

P.S - You'll miss the FZ6 !!!

Hi JC.

Very nice to hear from you:cheer:

I will let you know how I get on.

At the moment, I'm a tad ill at home with Pneumonia, which I have no idea how I contracted, nevertheless, I have never been so ill for many a years. Sadly all my elder Kids and other half, think I'm going to croak it, so I've given a dictate to go away in short jerky movements  and leave me to max out on Bike related Sky+ recordings and DVD's, which I really enjoyed
I'm now stir crazy as have not been out of the house for a week!! and will be mising the Bike Show at Gaydon tomorrow.
Heart of England Bikeshow - Exhibitors - Warwickshire Web

I had planned to take the bike back for the 600m service today so that I did not have to keep short shifting to get available torque so get max power and achive the NSL (National Speed Limit) when required. This will have to wait a while longer :(

Obs to date are.
Great fun when riding the unclassified roads and twisties.
Very capable on the motorway
Excellent visibility
Not so sure the seat is that good for long trips(good thing I have a gel pad)
The OEM screen is fine for 0-60, over that I get the updraft straight on my visor.
Noise is not too much an issue
Getting to the battery is just as much a faf as on the Fazer

Best of all is the exhaust note and when I rode the demo bike it had an Akrapovic which really was fab.

All the best

Mark
