Came across this article, 1st I am not a fan of hardleys and all they represent(IMO).. seems the same reason the big "3" need to refocus their efforts.

i agree with this article for the most part, although in the past few years harley has been making some efforts to get into a sportier look and feel (V-Rod) but i am not sure if it will be enough, but that at least showed some sort of initiative, but that was a few years ago still...

agree 100%. Even if I was to buy a cruiser I wouldn't touch an HD with a 10ft pole. For all the reasons stated in that article.

I'm a good example of the "Harleys are for old people" crowd. ALL of my needs could be matched or better met with a cruiser than a sportbike. All of them except for the image. I'm 23 and I think I would just look funny on a cruiser, so I can't imagine spending that kind of money on one.

I don't see a lot of younger people on a Harley any longer though there are a few. I do see a lot more women on them. One thing that the foreign guys need to start thinking about is lower seat heights so more women can ride the sportbikes and touring bikes. Harley is stealing the market for people who are vertically challenged.

I'm a vertically challenged fella, and have considered HD bikes. But when you look at what you get for the money, for what is essentially a hobby, its difficult to justify buying a HD. Never mind the issues about performance and finish.

However, what put the idea of HD ownership to rest for me, is that I couldn't turn one around in my drive! They are too long. Europeans tend to live in smaller spaces than Americans. And then I started thinking about all that chrome to polish... I like my FZ, even if I can't get both feet flat on the ground.

The reason a lot of the older guys ride HD is because they are the only ones who can afford it now.

I don`t know what the average age of a biker in Denmark is but I would guess it must be mid 40s to 50.
