Hi guys,

I have a givi top case (v46) and I want to add LED strips for the brake and turn signals. I’ve already added 2 bottom LED strips for the brake light.

Now, I want to add 3 addition LED strips on the top that will act as a brake light, but I also want them to flash when I turn the signals one. I’m having a hard time coming up with a schematic and that’s what I need help with. Is this possible using relays or will I need to have a board to control the power from brake to signal?

Cheers

I would probably tap into the original/existing wiring and use diodes to prevent the current following the wrong path.

You could possibly use a trailer wiring adapter to do this. You're not using the running light function, and you're using LED's, so I'm not sure if the lower current draw would affect the trailer converter. http://sportbikeguy.com/garage/floor/signalint/sprtbntsignal.pdf

If you're really good with electronics, you can do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNuLyxDf5Ms

I asked a different forum and someone recommended the same thing as you, using a trailer wiring module.

I used one of there (Tail Light Trailer Towing Wiring Converter (5 wires to 4 wires) DRAW TITE 120194 119130, 118187 119130, 118187) when I converted the old filament bulbs to LED lights on my trailer. I could do the same thing and it should send enough power to the LED's

I'm toying with the idea of adding running lights using diodes and resistors like this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yrvmEUMFGo.

It will be a fun winter project me thinks :)

I used admore lighting on my givi sidecases to do just this. 2 wire led's and their controller switches them from running lights to brake to turn signals. Maybe you could get one of their controllers to do this for your top case.
