Just the opposite here... my bolts were TOO long for the FZ1 sliders, but I made them work with some stacked washers until the right bolts arrive.
I'm not as worried about my bike as the wife's bike. First time on a sportbike. Small woman without a lot of upper body strength. Cannot flatfoot the bike. AND, she dropped my original 2005 FZ6 within two hours of me buying it new. She's not attached to a bike like most though and her words? That's why I have full coverage insurance! She is holding out for no-cut sliders.
