Gauge cluster replacement

Hi there,

I recently purchased a 2006 FZ6 at a discount because of the crash snd broken instrument cluster. I did not however realize that used replacements are $450 which is not something I want to spend.

The PCB on my old one is intact, the LCD is completely destroyed. I removed it, and I was looking for replacement LCDs but couldn’t find anything. I’ve been leaving it plugged in so my rad fans run.

I’m not super sure what the next best move might be. I’ve seen folks swap to an S2 cluster but not sure if that’s a good idea or not.

I’ve also got soldering skills so if I found an LCD I could swap it, but the housing is pretty damaged too.

The S2 will also work fine. The only difference is how the back light works. If you get the S2 we've posted it on the forum on how to resolve the back light issue. Also you can use the FZ1 instrument cluster. The FZ1 cluster will just have a lower red line on the tach.

Thank you for the reply. Have you ever heard of anybody replacing the LCD on the S1? I’m seeing the S2 clusters go for around 300 and I’m just trying to keep this as cheap as possible. I don’t even really need a tach.

You might get lucky and find a LCD screen. In fact why don't you shout out here on the forum.
The worst that could happen would be the sound of crickets. Or a deluge of frogs from the sky.... Yeah that can happen....
